The Service Technician – Pipeline Robotics is responsible for supporting the assembly, maintenance, repair, testing, and deployment of robotic equipment used in trenchless pipeline rehabilitation applications. This role works with electromechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in both shop and field environments to ensure equipment reliability and performance. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues while supporting customers and field operations.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • ​​​​Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and testing of robotic and electromechanical equipment used in pipeline rehabilitation operations.

  • Assemble, calibrate, adjust, and verify system components to ensure equipment meets operational specifications and customer requirements.

  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and analytical instruments to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, exploded parts diagrams, schematics, and technical instructions to support repairs and maintenance activities.

  • Conduct diagnostics, document repairs, and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment performance and serviceability.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and support field service activities as required.

  • Receive, inspect, stock, and track inventory; package and prepare equipment and components for shipment to customers and field crews.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, including shop, warehouse, and equipment storage areas.

  • Communicate equipment issues, repair status, and corrective actions with internal stakeholders, field personnel, and customers.

  • Adhere to all company, quality, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Technical training or experience in Industrial Electronics, Robotics, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.

  • Experience in equipment maintenance, repair, assembly, or troubleshooting in industrial, construction, utility, automation, or related environments preferred.

  • Minimum one year of soldering experience required.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of industrial electronics, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical systems, and automated equipment maintenance.

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system malfunctions and determine root causes.

  • Ability to disassemble, repair, reassemble, adjust, and align equipment components to established standards.

  • Familiarity with electrical assembly, panel building, PCB soldering, diagnostics, calibration, testing, and maintenance processes.

  • Ability to use diagnostic and test equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; ERP/MRP experience preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Ability to travel as needed, including obtaining and maintaining a valid U.S. passport.

  • German language skills are a plus but not required.

It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
