Job Overview:

Service Technician / Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Position Overview

A well-established dealer in the compact construction equipment industry is hiring a Service Technician to join its shop. This is a customer-facing, hands-on role where you'll be a primary point of contact for service and play a direct part in the customer experience. We're after someone with a genuine interest in solving problems for customers, a can-do mindset, and the drive to consistently go beyond what's expected.

What You'll Do

  • Perform daily equipment inspections and scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose and repair all major systems on compact construction equipment across leading OEM lines
  • Carry out component rebuilds and full system overhauls
  • Complete welding and fabrication work as needed
  • Coordinate effectively across every department — Parts, Service, Sales, and Rental
  • Take on additional duties as directed by your supervisor

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience servicing heavy and/or compact construction equipment (skid steers, excavators, and similar machines)
  • A strong mechanical foundation with proven ability in diagnostics, diesel mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Self-motivated, organized, and results-driven, with the composure to juggle several active jobs at once without losing your edge, plus solid computer skills

Work Environment

This role is split between indoor and outdoor work. Expect regular exposure to fumes and airborne particles, moving mechanical components, and vibration, with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions. The shop environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

  • Clear, effective verbal communication with customers
  • Continuous physical activity throughout the shift — standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, lying down, crawling, and climbing
  • Ability to routinely lift and/or move objects weighing more than 50 lbs
  • Many of the required movements place sustained strain on the muscles, joints, and tendons of the arms, chest, shoulders, and back
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
