Job Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Service Engineering Technical Writer to join our team. This role is essential in collaborating with internal design and engineering teams to develop clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for the effective diagnosis, servicing, and repair of our products. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into accessible documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Compose/revise technical material, editing and proofreading technical materials
  • Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Maintain, revise and document Owner’s manuals during product launches
  • Develop detailed assembly instructions and repair procedures.
  • Benchmark user-friendly documentation for dealers and technicians
  • Update and maintain existing documentation to reflect changes in processes, equipment, and best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in technical writing to enhance documentation processes.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Associate Degree
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in STEM Technical Degree (if applicable)
  • Years of experience: 3-5 years of experience in an engineering or mechanical service role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and document technical processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop clear solutions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines
  • CAD/CATIA experience preferred

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Limited travel to local manufacturing plants, boat shows & marinas

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly sits, and does computer work.

Occasionally walks, and stands.

Seldom/Never lifts up to 50 lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
