Job Overview:

Engineer – Tooling, Senior

 

 

Job Summary

Will support the tooling department with technical knowledge of die cast engineering and modeling. Providing technical data and support to the tool makers in the correct revision. Maintain tooling cavity replacement documentation, timelines and spare part procurement. 

 

 

       Responsibility

  • Maintain a cavity replacement schedule as well as a timeline aligned with production volumes for tooling kick-offs.
  • Maintain appropriate spares and relationships with tooling suppliers.
  • Support the component building team with tool paths and technical information.
  • Troubleshoot tooling design issues and make recommendations for improvements as it relates to core pin, punch and other component usage.
  • Maintain tooling records.
  • Assist and be pro-active in reducing costs and making quality improvements to tooling.
  • Reduce costs of process/operation.

 

Academic/Educational Requirements

  • Tooling Engineering degree or 7+ years relevant on the job experience as a tooling engineer.

 

Required Skills/Experience

  • Mastercam and/or other CAM software.
  • Proficient in Catia.
  • SolidWorks or varied CAD programs a plus.
  • 7-year experience in die casting.
  • Excel skills a must.
  • Microsoft project a plus.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation.
  • Understands metric and standard measuring system.
  • Ability to independently apply analytical skills and scientific technical principles in problem solving and development.
  • Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Working knowledge of United States and international standards as applicable to the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
