The Materials and Process Engineering Department, which functions within Hardware Engineering, is looking for a temporary senior thin film engineer advisor to join our Advanced Materials Section in Andover, MA. A qualified candidate will have significant experience in thin film deposition and related processes. This position will offer a qualified candidate the opportunity to establish a new processing system. This role will involve designing experiments to optimize processing. Tasks will require familiarity with similar systems. A candidate must be able to manage and coordinate a wide variety of simultaneous tasks within set schedule requirements. This candidate will become part of a multi-disciplined team.

What You Will Do

Develop and implement process for substrate formation and thin film deposition.
Provide subject matter expertise for proposals related to thin films and other substrate and coating research and development
Mentor earlier career employees
Transfer knowledge to colleagues

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience
Experience with thin film deposition, substrate development, and related work.
Experience working with design and development (material selections), manufacturing, and/or suppliers in materials or mechanical engineering related projects
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Experience in troubleshooting, problem solving, and solutions to problems in an expeditious manner

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience working on programs, projects, or products associated with the Defense Industry
Experience in technology transfer to manufacturing and process release concepts
Experience working with engineering drawings, material safety data sheets, military specifications, and ASTM test methods
Experience with mechanical and/or chemical analysis methods and characterization techniques
Experience completing scientific based projects including failure analysis investigations and writing concise technical reports summarizing analyses
