About this role
Manages the execution of Supplier Quality Engineering objectives. May lead a team of entry to intermediate level Quality Engineering professionals; or a team; or supervise Quality Engineering Technical / Business Support employees. Sets day-to-day objectives for the development, modification, application, and maintenance of quality evaluation, control systems, and protocols when working with suppliers and our internal customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, and production, to address supplier quality issues and ensure seamless communication.
- Compliance Assurance: Verify that all suppliers and their materials meet engineering and manufacturing specifications, as well as company and government standards which may include layout inspection for PPAP parts.
- Technical Liaison: Facilitate communication between product engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing personnel to ensure alignment of technical specifications, such as prints and drawings, with engineering requirements.
- Supplier Audits and Assessments: Conduct regular audits and assessments of suppliers to ensure compliance with AIAG standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Supplier Development: Work closely with suppliers to develop and improve their quality management systems, ensuring alignment with AIAG standards
- Quality Control and Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure that supplier products meet the required specifications and quality standards.
- Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA): Develop and oversee corrective and preventive action plans to address any quality issues identified during audits or inspections.
- Corrective Action Management: Assess supplier disruptions and implement corrective actions using methodologies such as D0, 8D, and Quality Notifications to mitigate business risks.
- Supplier Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze supplier quality performance metrics, including Parts Per Million (PPM) and disruption rates, to identify and drive improvements at the highest-impacting suppliers.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of supplier quality performance, audit findings, and corrective actions. Prepare regular reports for management review.
- Support: Provide support at Carrier and to suppliers on AIAG standards and quality management practices to enhance understanding and implementation of these standards.
- Cost Recovery Coordination: Collaborate with purchasing to recover the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) resulting from supplier non-conformances.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in Supplier Quality or Development Engineering

- Quality driven projects, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence or Operations within a manufacturing facility, with a proven history of influencing others in a cross-functional matrix environment.
- Solid positive attitude and effective communicating skills with a proven ability to forge solid business inclusive and diverse relationships.
- Experienced with AIAG, Quality core processes, systems, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing tools.
- Experience with APQP
- Robust skills on data manipulation, interpretation, and analysis.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).
- Familiar with GD&T methodology
- Experience with 8D problem solving techniques
