Under the dynamic leadership of the Director of National Accounts at MWI Animal Health, the Senior Strategic Account Manager plays a pivotal role in driving growth and innovation within the animal health sector. In this position, you will leverage advanced consultative and strategic sales techniques to deepen relationships with both existing and prospective national and regional customers.

As a key player in our mission, you will promote and deliver tailored distribution, technology, and professional services solutions, ensuring customer retention and expanding their investment in our offerings. You will craft and execute a comprehensive strategy that aligns with our Key Account business vision, collaborating closely with Sales and Specialty Groups to develop effective sales support tools that enhance our market presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Please note: This is a field-based role requiring extensive travel, averaging 2.5 overnights per week within your designated territory of Tennessee.
  • Development of a Key Account Development Business Plan that support new business growth objectives for retailers, including specific sales strategy, objectives and tactics.
  • Responsible for all aspects of business related to Tractor Supply Company and owned business divisions.
  • Responsible for financial health for business to related assigned retail customers.
  • Ability to develop organic opportunities within existing categories and develop new business relationships with emerging categories.
  • Identify product opportunities within current portfolio for new business growth.
  • Identify new and innovative products to add to customer offering.
  • Utilize merchandising expertise to recommend product selections, end caps, power wings, aisle invaders, and other shelf offerings.
  • Work closely with manufacturing partners to present new products, arrange promotions and scan downs, facilitate funding.
  • Cultivate new and existing manufacturer relationships to be distributor of choice.
  • Lead customer facing line reviews.
  • Lead reporting to customers and manufacturing partners based on inventory levels and point of sales.
  • Align with internal operations for new product ads, inventory planning for promotions, and forecasting demands.
  • Active pursuit of qualified and prioritized new business opportunities and transfer of these opportunities to appropriate personnel at MWI Animal Health with support on closing of new business through reviewing presentations, participation in the sales pitch and providing knowledge transfer.
  • Ongoing interface with MWI Animal Health, including strategic planning and ongoing opportunities.
  • Utilize CRM for customer information, forecasting, and opportunity tracking.
  • Participate in internal and external business meetings and industry conferences.
  • Ongoing monitoring of current market landscape for new business development related opportunities and challenges, with transfer of relevant information to appropriate MWI Animal Health associates.
  • Appropriate business related travel as needed, roughly 50%.
  • Coordination of proposal process including document templates, standard text, quality assurance and document management.
  • Management of MWI Animal Health’s presence and representation at select industry events.
  • The Senior Strategic Account Manager, Animal Health will also be assigned other duties and tasks as required from time to time.

Education:

  • University Degree in Science or Management, post-graduate degree

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven ability to network and develop new business relationships
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in animal health sales, pharmaceutical sales, marketing, or biotechnology experience
  • Advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution industry
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Effective interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Effective organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office Programs
