Senior Quality Lab Tech 

1st Shift

$27-30/hr, based on experience

**Ideal candidate should have both manufacturing and leadership experience!**

This is a manufacturing-based setting where time is split between the quality lab and production floor to support operations.


JOB OVERVIEW:

The Senior Quality Technician is responsible for actively monitoring, measuring, and recording data throughout the SMC production cycle – from preproduction checks to molding and testing the finished product. The Senior is also empowered to make decisions regarding production parameters and guide/direct Quality Technicians in the performance of their duties. The Senior Quality Technician must be reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented, with solid computer skills, good time management, and an inquisitive nature. The Senior Quality Technician is an integral part of Molding Products’ quality team and is essential to delivering products that meet our customers’ requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

  • Generate preproduction paperwork and testing prior to start of production runs.
  • Follow sampling and test requirements as required for the product.
  • Record and review measurements of critical properties.
  • Enter data in the Statistical Process Control system.
  • Work with production team to ensure product meets customer requirements.
  • Make decisions regarding production parameters (ratios, viscosities, etc).
  • Perform general laboratory housekeeping.
  • Train and mentor Quality Technicians.
  • Lead and monitor day-to-day functions of the Quality Department
  • Support the ongoing improvement of the Quality function at Molding Products.
  • Work in hot, cold, and humid conditions with prolonged standing.
  • Work efficiently with attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
  • Maintain a safe and clean (5S) working environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Minimum high school graduate/GED. Further education in a relevant field (sciences, engineering, quality) preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in the chemical, plastics, or manufacturing industries preferred. Quality experience strongly preferred.
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor training, or willingness to obtain same.
  • Supervisory experience with solid organizational ability.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and improve.
