Description

Oversees Quality Engineering in the development application and maintenance of quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products by performing the following duties.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Oversees and serves as primary Quality Assurance resource to department supervisors for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Supports concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing Quality Assurance and the customer.
  • Designs and implements methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9000 quality assurance requirements.
  • Promotes and executes quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
  • Assists in process certification.
  • Reviews customer’s purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensures that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
  • Develops, executes, and analyzes quality reporting measures.
  • Reports to management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
  • Reviews suppliers purchase orders and establishes supplier quality requirements.
  • Participates in internal and external quality audits.
  • Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assures that effective corrective action is implemented.
  • May compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards and activities.
  • Serves as Quality Assurance representative for ISO and AS9100 auditing standards.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard-free work areas.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations, and broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to apply mathematical fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent (or Associate degree in these fields plus minimum four years industrial experience).
  • Minimum three years supervisory experience in industry.
  • Strong computer skills including QA applications and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and database applications.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

  • Supervises subordinate Engineers and inspectors in the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
