Plans, coordinates and provides leadership for Stolle continuous improvement efforts while supporting all day-to-day business operations.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:
- Provide leadership in the development and maintenance of the Stolle Quality Management System in order to meet customer specifications and applicable business objectives.
- Train and encourage adoption of quality best practices such as PFMEA, SPC, 8-D, 5Why and other tools.
- Provide the framework for consistent statistical analysis across metrics facility-wide (LEAN, Six-Sigma, etc.)
- Corrective Action system management:
- Manage the use and application of the Stolle Corrective Action system for the elimination of system deficiencies which stem from non-conformances found in Stolle products and services.
- Continually assist in the facilitation and upkeep the Stolle Corrective Action system to assure timely root cause analysis, correction implementation, verification of effectiveness and closure.
- Develop and review relevant key metrics to drive improvement initiatives.
- Provide Quality Assurance Engineering and Quality Systems support to both internal and supplier final inspection facilities as needed.
- In close concert with Stolle Manufacturing and Design Engineering, develop, monitor and track quality process and product control parameters to validate process reliability and capability.
- Lead initiatives to identify and analyze product defects from suppliers to promote improvements in both Engineering Design and supplier quality performance.
- Regularly provide upper management with trend information derived from key metric data.
- Work in tandem with the Stolle SharePoint development team to create and manage new local and global systems and processes
- Assist the facility Quality Manager with the development and implementation of short-term quality department goals
- Oversee the training and usage of the High QA Inspection Management system, including all associated procedures and processes
- Assist with the development of processes associated with inspection planning and methods, gage calibration, personnel training, and other day-to-day operations as required.
- Purchase equipment and gaging for the inspection department.
Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.
MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS for education, knowledge and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality, or other technical field and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in any of the following: Quality Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Management/Supervision, or other relevant experience in a Continuous Improvement Environment. Will consider those with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong preference for candidates with Quality Certification (CQE/CQM) and membership with the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
- Sound knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing Processes (Six Sigma), Castings, Weldments, Assembly, CNC Machining, Precision Tool and Die, Metal Forming, Machined Components and Machining Processes.
- Knowledge and experience with current ISO-9001 standard, and best practices in Gauge Calibration, Metrology, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to perform dimensional measurement interpretation of Stolle products to customer required specifications using measuring instruments such as surface plate, height gauge, comparator, calipers, gauges, micrometers or CMM.
- Knowledge of the use of CMM inspection for dimensional detail part inspection and interpretation of reports.
- Ability to develop and perform semi-complex and complex dimensional detail part inspections.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints including engineering drawings, specifications, geometric dimensioning and tolerances and using the information to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas and measuring instruments required.
- Must be extremely detailed, organized and goal/results oriented.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and quickly both independently and with one or more groups.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to lead and manage Quality Lab Technicians.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, experience with statistical analysis, inspection planning, and SPC inspection software(s) preferred.
MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS for physical and mental demands:
- Work schedule generally consists of 40-50 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings and/or weekends.
- Required to sit or stand for long periods of time in either an office or shop environment.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
