Job Title

Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (AS9100)

As a Sr Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of the design, development, and implementation of quality systems and processes design, creation/management of documentation/support drawings through the application of professionally accepted quality engineering principles and techniques. As an individual contributor, you will be recognized as a technical expert across multiple markets and technical fields.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide significant and positive business impact to CoorsTek by introducing new ideas and solutions to further company’s profitability through expansion of the company’s quality portfolio excellence roadmap.
  • Advise teams and factories as a subject matter expert for resolving process upsets and driving new process implementation.
  • Independently represent CoorsTek with Customers on technical matters across the multiple markets and CoorsTek product offerings.
  • Mentor early- and mid-career quality engineers through one-on-one interactions, lectures, seminars, and classes.
  • Provide expert technical evaluation of external quality technologies, including advice to Senior Management with regard to development of quality engineering, business processes, quality business systems and / or key customer quality relationships.
  • Advise management in the creation of quality roadmaps to capture new business opportunities as well as develop long term global strategy.
  • Choose and executes exploratory projects to develop innovative solutions for the company.
  • Apply accepted quality engineering principles, completes assigned tasks efficiently under minimal supervision; confers with other technical personnel on complex matters, specific assignment objectives, points of emphasis, reference and information sources, and possible solutions as needed.
  • Interpret customer and company technical drawings for sales and manufacturing departments to ensure products are manufactured in accordance with quality specifications; suggests modifications to improve the manufacturing process.
  • Develop and maintain complete and accurate written records (i.e. First Article Report and process documentation), for new products and/or processes or improvements to existing product and/or processes.
  • Coordinate projects and quality engineering efforts across multiple product categories, processes or sites as needed.
  • Interact with customers and suppliers to clarify points, research material and investigate improvements to current and future processes.
  • Function in conjunction with sales personnel, interacting directly with customers in the development of new products and to communicate capabilities while providing solutions in response to customer request of current production issues.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of quality engineering work as a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Work on assignments that routinely include QMS design and development, Structured Problem Solving, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations, report preparation and other activities requiring knowledge of accepted engineering principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Provide training/cross-training in Structured Problem Solving, SPC, PCS, equipment, software and process operations.
  • Supervise lower-level engineers or technicians via matrix as a direct supervisor or in a defined project environment.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering field with 10 years relevant/Quality experience.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Professional Engineer and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer / Manager
  • Green Belt
  • Certified Lead Auditor

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with AS9100.
  • Experience with AS13100 standards and Nadcap FPI requirements preferred (must be willing to complete AS13100 training if not already certified).
  • Proficiency in technical drawing interpretation.
  • Understanding of manufacturing/quality techniques and thorough knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques
  • Possesses skills with Quality Management systems, Quality Engineering (ASQ certification preferred) and project management
  • Possesses detailed understanding of machining processes and associated manufacturing technologies
  • Proficiency with FAI/PPAP, FMEA, and Process Control Charts.
  • Minitab/JMP experience highly preferred.
  • Strong ability to perform detail-oriented tasks utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as intermediate math and computer skills.
  • Excellent listening skills necessary.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
