Position Value Proposition:
GrayWolf is seeking a Senior Project Manager with strong heavy industrial construction experience to support and lead the execution of complex projects across our core markets, including pulp & paper, chemical, power, and other industrial facilities. This role is a key leadership position within the project team, responsible for proactive schedule management, accurate cost forecasting, and disciplined change order execution.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead and support project planning, execution, and closeout activities for heavy industrial construction projects.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, estimators, and Project Managers to develop, review, and validate scopes of work, schedules, estimates, and contracts.
- Promote and reinforce GrayWolf’s safety culture and compliance with site-specific safety requirements.
- Mentor and assist Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Field Engineers in executing field activities, guaranteeing compliance with safety standards, specifications, timelines, and budget requirements.
- Take the lead role in schedule management, including:
- Providing oversight and final approval for schedule development and updates.
- Analyzing schedule structure, task sequencing, and resource distribution.
- Anticipating conflicts, productivity issues, and execution risks well ahead of impact.
- Implementing strategic adjustments to mitigate delays and maintain productivity.
- Take the lead role in Cost at Completion forecasting, including:
- Monitor field productivity and earned value, and proactively identify trends affecting schedule and cost performance.
- Maintaining accurate and timely forecasts for labor, material, equipment, and subcontract costs.
- Evaluating productivity trends and incorporating field conditions into forward-looking forecasts.
- Communicating forecast changes and risk drivers to project management and leadership.
- Lead Change Order Management efforts, including:
- Early identification of scope changes and impacts.
- Development of cost and schedule impacts.
- Coordination with owners, engineers, and internal teams to support timely change resolution.
- Support and coordinate procurement activities, including preparation of bid packages, subcontract scopes, and technical evaluations.
- Coordinate construction activities with owner operations and other contractors on active industrial sites.
- Act as a senior technical liaison between GrayWolf field supervision, owners, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Support quality control planning, inspections, and documentation.

Education and Experience
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline with (7–12) years of relevant heavy industrial construction experience.
OR
- Minimum (20) years of similar construction experience in industrial environments such as pulp & paper, chemical, power, or heavy manufacturing, with demonstrated involvement in project controls, scheduling, or cost tracking.
Required Skills
- Advanced understanding of construction sequencing, productivity, and execution strategies in heavy industrial environments.
- Proven ability to proactively analyze schedules and predict downstream impacts to productivity and cost.
- Strong cost forecasting and analytical skills, with experience maintaining accurate Cost at Completion projections.
- Demonstrated experience leading change order identification, pricing, and negotiations.
- Ability to coordinate and lead work across diverse groups including craft supervision, subcontractors, engineers, owners, and internal project teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate risk and mitigation strategies.
- High level of organization with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to translate technical and project controls data into actionable execution plans.
Desired Skills or Knowledge
- Applied project management and project controls leadership experience.
- Scheduling software experience: Primavera P6 preferred; MS Project acceptable.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of technical tools such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, 3dLiftPlan and others.
- OSHA safety training or equivalent industrial safety experience.
- Experience supporting outage planning, multi-shift execution, and complex construction sequencing.
Work Environment
- At times this position will require on site work in an industrial environment, and exposure to hazards which require the use of personal protective equipment.
- This position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions. Working long days including evenings and weekends can be required at times for this position.
- An acceptable driving record will be required for this position due to the required travel to job sites, and to drive a company vehicle.
