Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Process Engineer to lead and drive the execution of Process and Quality Improvement projects at the Shafter Shingle Plant. You will play a key role in optimizing processes and delivering innovation by utilizing tools such as Braincube, Minitab, MVT/DOE, and Kepner Tregoe. As a senior team member, you will also provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while managing critical projects that align with our values of Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost.
Essential Duties
Lead the strategic execution of Quality and Process Improvement projects using advanced process improvement tools such as Braincube, Minitab, MVT/DOE, Kepner Tregoe.
Prioritize and execute capital improvements using the hierarchy of values: Safety, Quality, Service, Cost.
Lead and manage plant trials in coordination with R&D and plant personnel, ensuring trials are conducted with precision and reported accurately.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and staff on process improve

ment methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
30%: Lead an OEE Improvement Team. Utilize PDCA and 4DX methodologies to exceed project objectives. Provide advanced process troubleshooting assistance on the production line as needed. Focused on the optimization of machines, materials, methods, and personnel to improve line efficiency.
20%: Lead process trials, raw material qualification, product/process qualification, and capability studies. Perform PPA/FMEA on major process and raw material changes. Provide expert-level oversight of optimal raw material usage.
20%: Lead the advanced application and interpretation of SPC control charting, utilizing data analysis to drive substantial cost savings and efficiency improvements.
10%: Mentor new process engineers, co-ops. Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement.
10%: Champion GAF Business System (GBS) Initiatives: 5S, GEMBA Walks, Standard Work, etc.
5%: Assist in the development and refinement of process specifications and manage plant change notices (PCN's). Conduct internal compliance audits of product testing.
5%: Perform other assigned duties.

Physical Demands
Ability to climb ladders, heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), walking, standing, bending, stooping, working in confined areas, potential exposure to particulates, vapors, or noisy environments.

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a continuous manufacturing process environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing analysis tools such as statistical analysis/statistical process control (SPC), process capability studies, lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kepner Tregoe, and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in software tools such as Braincube, Minitab, and Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
  • Intermediate skills in process hazard analysis and process safety management.

Annual Salary Range: 114,300-146,050
