Job Overview:

The Injection Molding Process Engineer is responsible for supporting and optimizing high-speed, multi-cavity plastic injection molding processes to improve cycle time, quality, OEE, and equipment uptime.

The role oversees approximately 6 high-speed, multi-cavity injection molding machines and 2 direct reports (Process Engineers/Technicians), with a focus on injection molding process development, scientific molding, mold trials/sampling and validation, process optimization, and injection mold/tooling troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include RJG/scientific molding, DOE and root-cause analysis, cycle-time reduction, production start-ups, process documentation, mold maintenance oversight, employee training, and continuous improvement. The role also supports hot runner and automation systems and coordinates preventative maintenance activities.

The engineer works closely with high-cavitation, fast-cycle molding applications and is responsible for supporting stable, repeatable processes while maintaining food safety and quality requirements.

Position Highlights

● Direct-hire, full-time position

● Day shift — Monday through Friday

● Oversight of approximately 6 high-speed, multi-cavity injection molding machines

● 2 direct reports — Process Engineers/Technicians

● High-speed, high-cavitation plastic injection molding environment

● Focus on process optimization, quality, OEE, cycle time, and uptime

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting plastic injection molding processes
  • Applying RJG/scientific molding principles to establish stable, repeatable processes
  • Conducting mold trials, sampling, validation, and process-window development
  • Troubleshooting molds, tooling, hot runners, automation, and molding-related process issues
  • Using DOE and root-cause analysis to address defects, process variation, and recurring production issues
  • Driving cycle-time reduction, OEE, quality, uptime, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting production start-ups and documenting established process parameters
  • Overseeing mold maintenance activities and coordinating preventative maintenance
  • Training and supporting Process Engineers/Technicians

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on plastic injection molding process development and troubleshooting experience, including scientific molding, mold sampling/validation, tooling troubleshooting, DOE, root-cause analysis, and high-speed/high-cavitation molding.

Experience with fast-cycle closure/cap or thin-wall molding applications and strong knowledge of plastic resins and material behavior is preferred. Hands-on experience with Husky, Netstal, Engel, Milacron, Nissei, or Sumitomo injection molding equipment is highly relevant.
