Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Test Lead to support the Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) business under Precision Navigation Systems. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire testing lifecycle for the IFF business. This key leadership role demands a strategic vision to enhance testing processes, manage testing teams, and collaborate closely with other cross functional departments and Value Stream Leaders (VSLs) to support both the Transponder and Interrogator product lines. In addition to technical expertise, the Test Lead must possess strong leadership and communication skills to motivate their team and advocate for quality throughout the lifecycle.
What You Will Do
• Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies and policies
• Oversee the planning, execution, and reporting of test activities, including ownership of Test Readiness Reviews
• Collaborate with development and product teams to ensure both quality objectives and performance requirements are met
• Continuously improve testing processes and adopt new testing tools, analyze and assess metrics to improve test efficiency and effectiveness, Liaise with external vendors and partners for outsourced testing services if necessary
• Conduct risk assessments and manage potential risks associated with test development
• Prepare and present reports on testing results and quality metrics to senior management
• Manage test requirement changes and traceability throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications You Must Have
• Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW, LabWindows CVI or TestStand suite of tools
• Strong experience with Engineering management in a matrix organization
• Experience communicating orally and in writing with various Engineering organizations, groups and customer and company leadership organizations
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
• Experience with DoD AIMS 03-1000 and AIMS 17-1000, Technical Standard for the ATCRBS/IFF/Mk IIA Electronics Identification and Military Implementation of Mode S
• Experience with NATO STANAG 4193, Technical Characteristics of IFF Mk XIIA and Mk II Interrogators and Transponders
• Experience with Secondary and Primary RADAR systems
• Experience with Earned Value Management
• Experience providing mentorship to team members at various career levels (entry, intermediate and senior level)
