Job Overview:

The Senior Plant Production Manager is responsible for leading and managing plant production operations for multiple large value streams or all value streams for a medium-size plant, which includes production output, plant metrics, quality, safety, and materials utilization. This position will work proactively with plant management, operations managers, and production managers to ensure a high level of plant performance, provide quality and timely delivery to Homebuilding operations, and identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. The Senior Plant Production Manager will lead, coach and develop a team of managers, supervisors, and hourly employees and will participate in broader Manufacturing projects, as needed.

This role is located in our Prince George VA plant.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage production and schedule requirements and output for multiple large value streams or all value streams in a medium-size plant. Ensure a consistent flow of work and alignment between all departments, including night shift and day shift operations.

  • Provide input to plant and operations leadership, such as Materials, Scheduling and Logistics, to ensure a balanced schedule and consistent flow of material into production areas.

  • Ensure accurate projections are developed for all production areas. Make recommendations to plant leadership on hours worked, staffing, and other resourcing decisions to ensure achievement of operational metrics and timely shipments to Homebuilding operations.

  • Oversee alignment to the Manufacturing Quality program within area of responsibility and achievement of plant and Brand Promise goals. Partner with plant and manufacturing Quality leadership to resolve escalated Homebuilding issues and participate in Homebuilding audits and Customer Liaison programs as needed.

  • Ensure alignment, coordination, and cross training between value streams. Partner with leadership in other functional areas and centralized operations to coordinate, align execution, and meet or exceed shared goals.

  • Provide leadership, training, and auditing on safety best practices, working conditions, and/or habits of employees. Identify and correct any safety concerns/issues, manage accident investigations, participate in cross-department safety audits, and ensure all employees are trained.

  • Review, analyze, and interpret data to evaluate performance, identify and lead improvements, and drive business decisions to support achievement of key metrics, including plant efficiencies.

  • Align production equipment usage with plant Maintenance department and capital planning, to ensure production areas are functioning at a high level, with minimal downtime, and preventative maintenance activities are taking place. Provide support and cost justification to the plant capital planning process, as needed.

  • Manage spending in multiple plant accounts and drive opportunities for cost savings.

  • Resolve escalated issues from department leadership, Homebuilding, vendors, employees, and other NVR departments and communicate and document resolution.

  • Maintain a culture of employee engagement, positive working relationships with all employees, regular coaching, training, and reviews, and improvements that will reduce employee turnover.

  • Develop a high-performing team through selection, onboarding, coaching, training, and development. Create a strong talent pipeline and provide opportunities for the team to learn and grow.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects in the plant and participate in broader Manufacturing prototypes and projects as needed.

  • Support new plant expansions through guidance, sharing of best practices, and training, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership and management experience (Manufacturing experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience with lean and continuous improvement methodologies preferred
  • Excellent problem-analysis, critical thinking, and strategic planning abilities
  • Experience communicating effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong collaboration and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Excellent reliability, with strong planning and organizational skills
  • Focus on driving improvements within the organization and ability to influence others
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple tasks, setting priorities, decision-making, adapting, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to travel to other NVR plants and locations, as needed

This position pays $120,000 to $140,000 per year. This position is eligible for a bonus.
