POSITION SUMMARY  

The Senior Operations Manager in Aberdeen, SD supports the grain operations activities at Agtegra to obtain optimum efficiency, economies of scale and maximize profits.  Plans, directs, and coordinates operational and facility activities to ensure that policies, goals, or objectives established by the Leadership Team are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assure compliance with the organization’s policies relating to grain handling.
  • Accountable for the implementation and improvement of all grain procedures including aeration, blending, drying, and inbound binning and recommend industry best practices to increase efficiency, reduce shrink and expenses, and maximize profits. 
  • Provide input on location capital budget requests. Assist regional managers with planning, developing and preparation of the locations annual operating budget.
  • Identify opportunities for plant improvements and work to initiate and implement continuous improvement and cost savings projects.
  • Has ownership of Grain operations compliance with all governmental rules, regulations, and statutes.  Advises organization of compliance guidelines and audits to determine that the organization is in full compliance.
  • Participates in mergers, acquisitions, and ventures to determine feasibility and strategic, operational, cultural and financial synergies.
  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all grain handling processes internal and external. Develop and track operational and efficiency metrics for grain operations.
  • Evaluate grain facilities and determine the value of standardizing equipment and systems across our grain locations.
  • Develop and document equipment specifications.  Participate in supplier selection and equipment procurement.
  • Analyze flow patterns of grain and troubleshoot facilities where slowdowns or blockages exist to determine if process or design flaws exist.
  • Develop advanced knowledge in location operations to become a Subject Matter Expert that teams can rely on.
  • Monitor implementation of the grain quality management program.  Collaborate with merchandisers to formulate grain flow plans to maximize marketing opportunities.
  • Identify key competencies for grain managers and accountable for ensuring all personnel are thoroughly trained in accordance with the requirements of their position.  
  • Conduct on-site reviews of each location and collaborate with regional managers to implement necessary changes.  
  • Coordinate equipment and staffing necessary for operations such as pile equipment, pile reclaim equipment, and cleaning equipment.
  • Monitor calibration and testing of scales and grading equipment.
  • Assist locations with operational planning and problem solving. Lead RCA’s for operational failures.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations, requirements, policies and procedures, including OSHA regulations, the vehicle policy and fleet safety program and DOT regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned

 REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent degree and work experience. Minimum of ten (10) years of grain management experience.  
  • Agricultural industry experience and knowledge required. 
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. 
  • English proficiency. 
  • Valid Driver's License. 
  • Previous managementt/supervisory experience preferred.
