We are a U.S.-based, well-diversified, growing precious metals producer with seven wholly-owned operations: the New Afton gold-copper mine in British Columbia, Canada, the Rainy River gold-silver mine in Ontario, Canada, the Las Chispas silver-gold mine in Sonora, Mexico, the Palmarejo gold-silver mine in Chihuahua, Mexico, the Rochester silver-gold mine in Nevada, the Kensington gold mine in Alaska and the Wharf gold mine in South Dakota. Coeur Alaska’s Kensington mine comprises an underground, hard-rock gold mine, associated milling facilities and a campsite in the historic Berners Bay Mining District, 45 miles north-northwest of Juneau. The mine is accessed via company transportation including bus rides and a boat ride through Lynn Canal.

Approximately 400 miners, mechanics, engineers, operators, geologists, environmental technicians, exploration, and business leaders operate the Kensington mine. About the Job:
The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Superintendent. The schedule for this position is 5 days on at the Coeur Alaska office in Juneau, Alaska, and 2 days off.
Responsibilities:
- Stop work for safety concerns and abide by safety best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate and collaborate with applicable departmental personnel.
- Review accounts payable costing details to ensure accurate coding and timely payment processing including cost issue resolution.
- Participate in Month-end closing processes including but not limited to closing accounts payable module, journal entry preparation, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Distribute monthly cost reports for department review. Prepare reclass journals as needed.
- Prepare weekly cash forecast in line with budget and current payables.
- Assist in compliance reviews with internal and external audit groups.
- Participates in special projects and tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications & Skills:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Sets high standards for self and others, builds trust, and takes accountability.

- Strong working knowledge of excel.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Experience in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Approximately 3-5 years of accounting experience including accounts payable and payroll experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree in accounting, business or related field
- Experience in Oracle
- Preference given to Southeast Alaska residents.
