The Tactical Radars and Effectors department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering supports the development, production, and deployment of multiple defense products including radars, missiles, command and control systems, and naval electronics. The products support US Government and international customers.

This Mechanical Engineering role will support the AEGIS product line (Development, Production and Field Sustainment) based in Massachusetts and may require periodic domestic or international travel to suppliers, Chesapeake, VA Depot, customer/government test locations and/or shipyards. This position will be an onsite role in Marlboro, MA or Tewksbury, MA.

What You Will Do

Work within a team environment to develop innovative mechanical subsystems with solid modeling practices and drawing creation using CAD tools such as Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, or equivalent

Perform mechanical design, development, TDP updates of/to components and sub-assemblies for tactical radar systems and equipment in accordance with system requirements and AEGIS PDM Action Document creation and processing practices

Use preliminary sketches, diagrams, and other engineering information to generate 3-D design models and/or conceptual designs

Collaborate across multiple disciplines including Structural & Thermal Analysts, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Configuration Management, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain, Operations, Life Cycle Engineering (obsolescence and field sustainment) and Program Leadership to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges

Support and participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions

Provide transparent identification and communication of issues to functional leadership and engagement for resources (Subject Matter Experts, etc.) to resolve production issues rapidly and efficiently

Understand and utilize Mechanical disciplined applications / tools / processes / approaches / instructions across the radar product life cycle (PDM/CREO/Microsoft suite/Adobe Pro/Myriad)

Key participant in the Engineering changes process, peer review process, Engineering Documentation Standards (EDS) implementation, Configuration Control Board (CCB) participant as required and in accordance with command media

Support program growth and technology insertion strategies working closely with the program technical leadership, Program Office, Chief Engineer, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and Technical Program peers

Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience. Advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience

Experience with design, development, and production of mechanical equipment and/or hardware, preferably for use in Military environments

Experience in the development, creation, release, and updates of mechanical technical or manufacturing data packages

Experience in the review and interpretation of technical documentation in a production environment

Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimension and Tolerances)

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance or willingness to apply for/acquire is required. U.S. citizenship is required

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

Advanced degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or hardware systems design

Experience with production environment for military products

Experience working with factory personnel supporting development and production of radar components and assemblies

Working knowledge of Military and Commercial Specifications (IHS)

Demonstrated team player, self-driven leader with excellent collaboration skills

Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software

Experience with PTC Windchill Product Data Management or equivalent configuration/data management software

Possess strong technical writing and oral communication skills

Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
