We are seeking a well-qualified Senior Mechanical Engineer with an active/current Top Secret security clearance to join our team developing very interesting US Department of Defense (DoD) / Intelligence Community (IC) systems.

This position involves participating as a team member to develop, design, document and deploy complex information systems everywhere from the Data center to the tactical edge, supporting the warfighter with the tools they need to perform the most sensitive and complex missions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of new systems as well as the improvement of existing systems.

The candidate will utilize their mechanical engineering expertise during the development, production, and integration phases of system design. The candidate will create design solutions that meet product requirements using 2D and 3D CAD solid modeling software and prepare detailed drawings and a product structure for use in production, integration and testing. The candidate will provide guidance on mechanical issues to the project team, working closely with systems, electrical, mechanical analysis and test engineers during product development. The candidate will be expected to work on multiple projects, in an enthusiastic team environment. The successful candidate will have experience with the development of computing/network infrastructure for complex DoD/IC systems and the ability to effectively perform in a dynamic, agile development environment while closely coordinating with a geographically dispersed team.

What You Will Do

  • Work with Integrated Product Team (IPT) teammates to design/implement infrastructure
  • Develop complex systems made of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and custom Electronic and Mechanical assemblies to meet requirements
  • Support the build and deployment process to various sites and platforms of critical systems
  • Assist Infrastructure and Network Engineering team members bring to life critical systems to provide the US Government and the warfighter cutting edge capabilities
  • Use the agile development methodology to self-assign and complete taskings from the IPT Jira board based on Program Increment priorities
  • Be given the opportunity to be able to exercise and use a multitude of skillsets, everything from the nuts and bolts to high level system functions

Qualifications You Must Have

  • 4+ years Experience generating engineering drawings, product structures (BOM) and reports.
  • Ability to analyze mechanical design requirements, allocate to mechanical products to meet requirements, and design, integrate, and test mechanical products and assemblies
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government DoD issued Top Secret security clearance (with SCI eligibility) required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Local travel for customer meetings (approximately 20%) and additional periodic CONUS travel to support integration and test may be required.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Expertise in use of PTC CREO preferred (Windchill PDM)
  • Experience with Visio Visual Basic macros
  • Experience working in a computing system environment, familiarity with Hyperconverged system and miniaturization technologies
  • Experience with ASHRAE Thermal Analysis for Data Centers andMIL-STD-810 and similar standards, means to meet those standards, and experience participating in test for complex assemblies going into those environments.
  • Experience in an Agile Hardware environment

The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD - 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
