Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and implementation for containerized enclosures, skids, and factory-built assemblies supporting the Data Center, Utility, Fiber, and Telecommunications industries.
Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team and provide technical leadership across HVAC, piping and fluid systems, metal fabrication, dynamic analysis, material selection, and controls integration. This position will lead projects from concept and detailed design through manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and final handover.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design of modular enclosures, skids, racks, and factory-built assemblies.
- Design HVAC systems, including airflow, thermal management, ducting, coil selection, filtration, and control sequences.
- Engineer piping and fluid systems, including P&IDs, isometrics, line sizing, pump calculations, valves, supports, and insulation.
- Design sheet metal, weldments, and structural assemblies for manufacturability and durability.
- Perform or direct vibration, fatigue, transport-load, FEA, and CFD analyses.
- Select materials based on strength, thermal performance, corrosion resistance, and manufacturability.
- Direct creation of 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Apply GD&T and drafting standards and maintain configuration control through PLM/PDM systems.
- Lead design reviews and manufacturability/constructability assessments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Manage engineering activities across multiple concurrent projects, including schedules, estimates, risks, and deliverables.
- Collaborate with Electrical, Civil/Structural, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Field Services teams.
- Support fabrication and assembly activities on the manufacturing floor.
- Resolve manufacturing and build issues through ECR/NCR processes and technical problem-solving.
- Develop and execute FAT/SAT and commissioning procedures.
- Lead root-cause investigations and implement CAPA for quality, reliability, and performance issues.
- Support vendors and OEMs through RFQs, technical bid evaluations, submittal reviews, and make-versus-buy decisions.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable safety, reliability, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- 6–10 years of mechanical design experience within manufacturing or industrial product development.
- Experience with modular infrastructure, data centers, utilities, or related applications strongly preferred.
- Strong experience with HVAC, piping/fluid systems, sheet metal, weldments, material selection, and controls integration.
- Proficiency with 3D and 2D CAD, including Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD Mechanical, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drafting standards.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems.
- Hands-on experience with FAT/SAT, validation testing, commissioning, and field support.
- Familiarity with FEA/CFD workflows.
- Working knowledge of ASHRAE, AMCA, ASME, ASTM, AWS, and applicable customer/AHJ requirements.
- Strong project management, technical leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to mentor engineers and influence cross-functional teams.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline required.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, thermal sciences, mechanics, or related field preferred.

$98,000 annually
