Job Overview:

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time

Location: Chicago, IL or Washington, DC

Pay Range: $150,000 – $170,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) with 8+ years of HVAC and Plumbing design experience. This role provides leadership in mechanical engineering and design, manages projects, and represents the mechanical discipline in client meetings. You will mentor junior engineers, oversee system design, and ensure quality standards across commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • HVAC and Plumbing design for commercial projects

  • Project leadership: manage work plans, mentor engineers, and guide design teams

  • **Systems selection *and* basis of design**

  • Attend and lead client meetings

  • Coordinate mechanical/plumbing design with other disciplines

  • Provide construction phase support (submittal review, RFI response)

  • Maintain and improve mechanical/plumbing standards

  • Ensure** quality control **of work products

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum 8 years of mechanical/plumbing design experience

  • Proficiency in **Revit **and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with** Trane Trace load calculation** software

  • Strong communication skills for client and team interaction

  • Proven experience in commercial projects

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay: $150,000 – $170,000 annually (approx. $72 – $82/hour)
