A Senior Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles or mechanical equipment. They provide technical leadership to junior mechanics, ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards, and help maintain efficient workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on vehicles or equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime.
- Lead and mentor junior mechanics and apprentices.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with safety standards.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults.
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
- Order and manage spare parts, tools, and workshop supplies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Communicate repair findings and maintenance recommendations to supervisors or customers.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automotive or mechanical engineering preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience as a mechanic or technician.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
- Valid driver's license (if applicable).
- ASE certification or equivalent is an advantage (for automotive positions).
