Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Materials & Processes Engineer, Metallurgy/Metal Fabrication who will primarily focus on support of metallic raw materials and metal fabrication processes used in the nacelle. You will create and maintain materials and/or process specifications, provide real-time support to the program design teams, address questions and issues from Operations and suppliers and will conduct special process supplier qualifications. You will travel as needed to various domestic and international Aerostructures facilities and/or suppliers.

Position is working onsite in our Chula Vista, CA facility.
Relocation assistance is available.

Primary Responsibilities

Create and maintain materials and process specifications use for metal fabrication of Nacelle components.
Provide technical support to engineering groups, Operations, external customers and suppliers, and Aftermarket.
Conduct special process supplier qualification audits.
Communicate effectively with a variety of personnel up to Senior leadership.
Travel 10-20% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
Perform other duties as required

Basic Qualifications

Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and typical a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Practical experience with metallic raw materials and metal fabrication processes (heat treat, welding, machining, forging, etc.)
Technical writing experience
Experience with MS Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

Aerospace manufacturing experience
Experience with metallic raw materials and metal fabrication processes used in nacelles.
Technical writing (specifications) skills.
Proficiency with SAP and Teamcenter.
Continuous Process Improvement background (Lean, Six Sigma or CORE)
Experience with PowerPoint
Ability to operate effectively in a team environment

The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD - 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
