Job Overview:

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer supports the implementation of all aspects of engineering activities and projects within the organization. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization’s established policies and objectives. Has a deep understanding of new and relevant technologies for the purpose of realizing efficiency and quality objectives.  Additionally, the role supports the tracking and execution of overall engineering budget and costs. This position supports the development of the reliability-engineering capabilities, supports the departmental operating budget management, and supports any budget development the pipeline for the strategic horizon. The Sr. Engineering Manager creates and maintains positive relationships with the internal and external stakeholders of the business in order to establish a customer-focused culture. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Implements Capital Expenditure projects on-time and within budget by scoping technical projects, developing assignments, schedules, project plans, estimation of cost, coordination of vendors, and managing the execution of projects from conception through start up and commissioning. 
  • Evaluates vendor design and proposals, plant equipment selection, and conducts technical specifications preparation. 
  • Defines and manages the engineering scope, cost, and schedule for projects; develops a precise project scope definition and an accurate engineering fee estimate, and reconciles through the project execution. 
  • Provides technical review and input into the engineering deliverables; organizes and assures internal and external engineering reviews are carried out during the project phases. 
  • Monitors and reports engineering progress internally and to customers; manages all contracts related to the project; identifies and takes actions to minimize risks and delays. 
  • Resolves engineering issues and ensures a high engineering quality by monitoring key engineering documents, drawings, and calculations. 
  • Lead plant capacity calculations and evaluations of the production lines and plant utilities. 
  • Coordinates construction, commissioning and operational issues and assures tight definition and understanding between contractors and the site if required. 
  • Work with Executives, Plant Director & Maintenance Leaders to define desired future state and establish improvement priorities in Company’s efforts to execute its Digital Transformation strategy 
  • Provide input on manufacturability in the new product development process. 
  • Develop, implement, and measure the effectiveness of equipment to reduce variation and improve results. 
  • Assist in the readiness of all Quality Audit and Customer visits 
  • Recommend and implement Lean manufacturing design  
  • Maintain good working relationships with internal customers (Maintenance, Sales, Executives) 
  • 1 Direct Report 
  • Other tasks and projects may be assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering 
  • 7+ years in manufacturing, including relevant experience in food/protein industry  
    • Includes asset specific experience in Retail packaging and Forming equipment for beef patties 
  • PMP certified or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months 
  • Familiarity with applicable government regulations including but not limited to GMPs, HACCP, and USDA regulations and how it relates to Sanitary design 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • < 40 degrees for multiple hours of the day 
  • Standing on your feet multiple hours of the day 
  • >50% of work in office setting 
  • ~33% Travel
