JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer develops and improves processes and provides direction and assistance to his group to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate to high complexity, and solve manufacturing problems through immediate well-founded actions. This role will also include supervision of others.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Develop, evaluate, and improve manual and automated manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, and fixture design and production equipment capabilities. This activity covers a variety of manufacturing processes.
- Produce manufacturing processes with the utmost integrity and adherence to Quality policy
- Support the development and lead others in the Design and maintenance of concise Process Documentation to support manufacturing processes
- Support and meet development and production schedules, driving productivity, and quality initiatives, and manage the areas within budget guidelines and controls
- Take an active role in determining the proper manufacturing processes, inspection, and test of required components
- Convey technical understanding to engineering personnel through close teamwork and mentoring
- Evaluate manufacturing processes for improvement of product flow, cost, and First Time Yield (FTY)
- Analyze technical drawings and data and offer configuration changes to enhance product manufacturability
- Utilize SPC data to drive improvements throughout the manufacturing process. Use this data to improve processes, optimize quality checks, and provide feedback to the R&D group to optimize prints to current state of the art capabilities.
- Work closely with the R&D group on new projects and prototypes to ensure DFM is done properly and that products get to market faster and with no manufacturing issues.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist cross-functional support teams consisting of Quality Engineers, Industrial Engineers, Buyer/Planners, Maintenance, and Manufacturing by the following:
- Encourage and maintain a safe work environment
- Support site initiatives for Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and productivity improvements
- Provide direction, leadership, and technical support
- Ensure production KPI’s are maintained by providing Engineering support to reduce downtime and enhance production output
- Support future development projects
- Supervise other engineers
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work is performed in a group office/manufacturing environment.
- Utilization of P.C. and Microsoft Office applications.
- Interaction with Industrial Equipment and Raw Materials
- Basic mechanical skills
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES :
- Understanding of the practical application of lean manufacturing
- Ability to conceptualize production processes and process tooling that support safety, quality and productivity objectives
- Ability to manage projects in a team environment
- Ability to excel in a high volume production atmosphere
- Experience in 3D CAD modeling. (NX software preferred, but not required)
- Exposure to robotic processing and automation a plus.
- Exposure to CNC machining processing a plus
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field required
- BSME/BSIE and at least 3 years of manufacturing experience in a technical role
- Minimum 2 years of relevant supervisory experience
