Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, CNC Programmer who will provide operations with technical support, develop manufacturing process layouts, along with tool and fixture designs for Naval applications. You will also ensure that all production methodology meets customer requirements, productivity, and quality expectations. In addition, you will conduct product development projects within designated cost, quality, and timelines.

  • The position is working onsite at our Blount Island Jacksonville FL facility.
  • Relocation assistance is available.
  • Position is working first shift initially, may at a future date move to second shift.

What You Will Do

  • Use knowledge of manufacturing processes and machine methodology; provide detailed drawings or sketches as guidance for drafting personnel to complete process sequencing.
  • Use knowledge of cutting tool technology, fixture design, machining, and CNC programming techniques, to establish best practices for production.
  • Continuously work with Machinists to improve machining efficiencies.
  • Responsible for the sustainment of standard machining techniques.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing methods to enhance manufacturing efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Perform research for equipment acquisition; develop Return on Investment (ROI) reports for equipment acquisition justification.
  • Develop manufacturing methods and work instructions on new products or new equipment to meet productivity and quality requirements.
  • Ensure processes yield product that meets cost and quality expectations, with reliability and consistency.
  • Assist in determining tools, jaws, speeds, feeds, and fixtures to support manufacturing operations.
  • Develop documentation to support machining programs using Computer Aided Manufacturing systems, to meet production expectations of productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Support training of Production machinists in support of knowledge base growth and development.
  • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers; share knowledge and lessons learned, and contribute to positive teamwork environment.
  • Act as a troubleshooter for assembly / machining process / manufacturing problems.
  • Resolve problems and work with Applications Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Representatives, Product and Process Suppliers, and customers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety and environmental incidents to supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplish related results as needed.


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and typically a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • CNC programming Mastercam & Siemens NX experience
  • Manufacturing shop floor experience
  • Experience writing the programming and standard work instructions
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and methodologies
  • Experience with MRP/ERP Systems

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE
  • SAP experience
  • Experience with design: CATIA V, Solidworks, NX etc.
  • Microsoft 365

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
