Job Overview:

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Manufacturing Engineer to provide overall manufacturing engineering leadership and support to optical system fabrication. In this role you will provide independent review of the whole product development process (PDP), steer improvement efforts and drive process development and improvements. In addition, an important aspect of your role will be to interact with technical teams to provide sound technical support.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Help NPI team to transfer new technologies/products into production.
  • Support costing and NPI start up on new programs
  • Develop a manufacturing plan, identify and procure equipment and tooling and setup the production lines. Develop and document the processes for optical, mechanical and electrical designs, optical sub-systems manufacturing, and all assembly, alignment and testing equipment.
  • Work closely with development engineering teams on the Product Development Process (PDP) from concept, design to production phases in providing input for manufacturability (DfX) and pFMEA.
  • Drive efforts to complete NPI deliverables in a timely manner, including training of technicians.
  • Implement automated data collection plans and SPC to prevent product defect and minimize the failure rates. Prepare and launch ECOs, Routers. Actively work with cross functional teams (program managers, planners, buyers, document control, design engineers and leadership team) to implement the changes, within a time frame, correctly and independently.
  • Effectively communicate and identify issues during engineering builds and implement corrective actions to improve product manufacturing, yield and quality. Diagnose and debug issues in existing manufacturing processes or equipment with corrective actions implemented in a timely manner.


Skills You Bring:

  • B.S. degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Optics or Physics.
  • Hands-on work experience with opto-mechanical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with manufacturing and applications in product development, engineering, integration and testing of complex hardware/software.
  • 5+ years of experience in Opto-mechanical systems development or NPI/MFG engineering.
  • Effective hands-on experience with defining, assembling, aligning and calibrating equipment setups, opto-mechanical alignment, data acquisition and analysis and troubleshooting test systems.
  • A team player with proven ability to effectively present complex technical information to different audience.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, knowledge of SAP (ERP) software and laser safety is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Pay Range: $80,909.00 - $150,259.00 USD Annual. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
