The Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime through expert troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of manufacturing and packaging systems. This position is a technical leader, providing guidance to maintenance team members and operators while serving as a subject matter expert in key production areas.
A strong background in injection molding systems is required, including troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. The Senior Maintenance Technician will also support other equipment areas such as blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers.
In addition, this role supports facilities and auxiliary systems—including chillers, air compressors, and water filtration equipment—while leading continuous improvement and training initiatives across the plant.
Ensure safe work practices and adherence to GMP standards across the plant.
Troubleshoot and repair production equipment to minimize downtime and prevent recurring issues through root cause analysis.
Train and mentor operators, mechanics, and supervisors on technical procedures related to high-speed manufacturing and packaging.
Partner with plant leadership to execute continuous improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and process optimization.
Lead and support equipment rebuilds during planned downtime to restore like-new condition.
Develop SOPs for troubleshooting, machine reliability, and preventative maintenance.
Maintain and repair facilities and auxiliary systems, including water filtration, chillers, and air compressors.
Provide subject matter expertise in injection molding technology, including:
Husky injection molding machines (hydraulic, pneumatic, electromechanical systems)
Auxiliary systems (resin handling, drying, dehumidification, vision inspection, cooling systems)
Mold systems (hot runner, cold half maintenance, component wear, product inspection)
High-speed plastic processing while maintaining tight tolerances and acceptable acetaldehyde (AA) levels
Provide expertise in additional production areas (blow molding, filling/capping, labeling, dry-end packaging) as needed.
6+ years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment
6+ years of maintenance technician experience, including hands-on injection molding experience
4+ years of experience managing people or projects
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
Skilled with shop equipment (presses, grinders, drill press, mill, lathe, power tools)
Proficient with precision measuring tools (calipers, dial indicators, gauges)
Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Must supply own toolbox and basic tools
10+ years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment
10+ years in a senior maintenance role
6+ years of people/project management experience
Advanced expertise in injection molding, plus experience in blow molding, packaging, or beverage equipment
Hands-on experience with OEM equipment such as Husky, Krones, Sidel, KHS, Sacmi, or Tech Long
Skilled in cutting, welding (MIG, TIG, Stick), and electrical systems (480VAC & 24VDC)
Advanced troubleshooting of VFDs, servo motors/controllers, PLC I/O, and communication systems (ASI-bus, CAN-bus, Profi-bus, Ethernet)
Proven record of driving process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
Leadership experience training and mentoring others on equipment functionality and repair
