TekPro is partnered with a premier precision machining company in Chicagoland in their search for a skilled Maintenance Technician!

This is a senior-level, hands-on maintenance position with a strong emphasis on electrical troubleshooting, controls, automation, and CNC machine tool maintenance. The company operates a large, clean, recently renovated manufacturing facility with advanced CNC machining equipment, multi-axis machining centers, automated systems, EDM, grinding, and other sophisticated production technology.

Responsibilities

· Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain CNC machine tools and other manufacturing equipment.

· Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, controls, and automation-related equipment failures.

· Troubleshoot industrial electrical systems, including 480V three-phase power, motors, drives, contactors, relays, transformers, sensors, switches, and control circuits.

· Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, and machine documentation.

· Troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery and automated manufacturing systems.

· Diagnose PLC I/O, sensors, interlocks, relays, safety circuits, and machine control issues.

· Troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, motors, encoders, and other motion-control components.

· Diagnose CNC machine alarms, electrical faults, communication problems, and equipment failures.

· Troubleshoot robotics, automated cells, material handling equipment, pallet systems, and other automation.

· Perform mechanical repairs involving bearings, gearboxes, ball screws, spindles, pumps, motors, belts, couplings, and actuators.

· Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

· Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on CNC machines and production equipment.

· Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime.

· Identify root causes of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.

· Assist with the installation, startup, commissioning, and integration of new machinery and automation.

· Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and outside service technicians when necessary.

· Support machine moves, equipment upgrades, electrical installations, and manufacturing improvement projects.

· Maintain accurate maintenance and preventive maintenance documentation.

· Follow lockout/tagout procedures and applicable electrical and machine safety requirements.

Qualifications

· 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

· Strong electrical troubleshooting skills required.

· CNC machine tool maintenance and troubleshooting experience strongly preferred.

· Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including three-phase power and machine control circuits.

· Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and ladder diagrams.

· PLC troubleshooting experience, including the ability to diagnose I/O, sensors, interlocks, and machine sequences.

· Experience with industrial automation and automated manufacturing equipment.

· Experience troubleshooting VFDs, servo drives, motors, sensors, encoders, relays, contactors, and safety circuits.

· Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair capabilities.

· Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

· Ability to safely use multimeters and other electrical diagnostic equipment.

· CNC controls and machine tool electrical experience highly desirable.

· Robotics and automated cell troubleshooting experience is a plus.

· Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to independently diagnose complex equipment failures and determine appropriate repairs.

· Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.
