As part of a diverse and hard-working team of engineers, you will design and develop ground system instrumentation and control (I&C) hardware and software for the Launch/Land Complex and associated GSE for the New Shepard program. You will be responsible for these systems’ complete product life cycle from initial requirements through system commissioning including design, manufacturing, test support, performing test data reviews, processing non-conforming hardware, and writing technical reports. The ground I&C sub-system consists of the control hardware and software for the cryogenic storage & distribution propellent systems, high pressure storage & distribution pneumatic systems, audio/video systems, radio communication systems, and various related support systems required to launch, land, recover and maintain the New Shepard flight vehicle. You will need to have a strong technical background in I&C and electrical design and development to industry, safety, and assurance standards. You will be reporting directly to the Ground System Element Lead within the New Shepard business unit. The position will require some travel to our Launch Site One facility in West Texas to support development, maintenance, and launch operations as required.

Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of the New Shepard Ground I&C Subsystem
Lead scope definition, subsystem priorities, and day-to-day activities of a team of dedicated engineers, designers, and analysts to create solutions to complex problems
Work with in and out of house production organizations to resolve challenges encountered during manufacturing or procurement of fluid systems.
Work with ground and vehicle operations and maintenance teams to resolve challenges encountered on the fielded equipment to launch, land, and maintain the flight vehicles.
Ensure operations and maintenance activities are conducted consistent with design intent and defined requirements.
Work with the software architecture team to ensure new development and updates to ground I&C software are completed on-time.
Collaboration with a Project Manager, develop and integrate project schedules and analyze/optimize those schedules to meet program goals and deadlines.
Coordinate resource support plans with the production and engineering functional organizations.
Collaboration with technical designers and configuration management to establish product structures and configuration management for the entire subsystem.
Work with Lead Systems Engineer to ensure subsystem requirements are developed and maintained to accurately define the ground electrical control and instrumentation sub-system.
Required to take ownership of dependencies, including engineering deadlines; supply chain and internal manufacturing as necessary to support end item delivery schedule
Qualifications:
Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (electrical or computer desired)
Domain professional in electrical control and instrumentation system architecture through design and development
Strong technical fundamentals in electrical engineering.
Professional in software development using PLC Ladder Logic, LabVIEW, Python, or C/C++
Proficiency with computer aided design (CAD) tools.
Experienced with project management toolsets and methods.
10+ year of industry experience in a related field.
5+ years proven ability guiding and mentoring less experienced engineers

Desired:
M.S. in engineering subject area or higher
PMP Certification or equivalent level of experience in project management
Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10
Strong knowledge of entire avionics product/system from design, development, commissioning, and production
Familiarity with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
