Job Overview:

About the Company

A recognized leader in the generator and electrical construction industry since 1986, specializing in commercial backup power, generator installation, rewiring, repairs, panels, conduits, and preventative maintenance agreements. With the ability to provide temporary electrical power on demand — from 1,400-watt portable gasoline models to 2,500,000-watt diesel units — this company is the trusted solution for facility electrical and power generation needs.

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Generator Technician who can hit the ground running — no ramp-up, no hand-holding. If you have deep hands-on experience with standby and rental generator sets and can step into the field on day one, we want to talk. You'll work independently, manage your own schedule, and serve customers who depend on reliable power solutions every day.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on generator systems
  • Read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical faults
  • Conduct engine diagnostics on natural gas and diesel units
  • Test and service automatic transfer switches (ATS) and control systems
  • Document work thoroughly and maintain detailed service reports
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly with customers
  • Manage your daily schedule and field priorities independently
  • Keep your company service vehicle clean, organized, and road-ready

What You Bring

  • 5–10+ years of hands-on experience with standby and rental generator sets
  • Hands-on experience with Cummins and Kohler generators — required
  • Familiarity with MTU, CAT, Generac, or other major brands is a plus
  • Natural gas engine experience required; diesel and bi-fuel systems a plus
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and perform systematic troubleshooting
  • Core experience with 20–150 kW residential/light commercial units; exposure to 200–500 kW commercial and 1 MW+ industrial systems highly valued
  • Knowledge of Tier 4 emissions standards preferred
  • Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Clean driving record; ability to work within a one-hour travel radius
  • Professional demeanor and customer-focused communication style

Preferred Certifications (Not Required to Apply)

  • OSHA Certification
  • EPA Certification
  • Manufacturer Certifications (Cummins, Kohler, or equivalent)
  • CDL (Commercial Driver's License)

You should be proficient in:

  • Preventive Maintenance & Inspection
  • Standby Generator Installation
