PRIMARY DUTIES
This individual is responsible for maintaining the building, mechanical, electrical, controls and process equipment to high standards for safe and efficient operation. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform hands-on preventive maintenance and repairs on all Willow Lake building systems and process equipment, including HVAC, lab hoods, heat recovery systems, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, generators, electrical systems, plumbing, piping, building controls and process controls.
  • Assist in management of Building HVAC systems and maintain Campus Security systems.
  • Work independently, as well as with the maintenance team, to solve complex maintenance issues and suggest action plans. Assist in identifying potential problems, making immediate repairs, or in developing and implementing effective solutions.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and evaluate all available information to perform routine analysis and effectively troubleshoot problems.
  • Work with CMMS software (MVP ONE) to maintain preventative maintenance schedule and to complete work requests as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment following EHS recommendations and following 5S practices.
  • Identify and lead projects to protect company assets.
  • Solicit bids and manage external contractors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • 5 Years direct hands-on maintenance experience with preferred 3-year corporate headquarters building and laboratory maintenance experience.
  • MN State 1st Class C Boiler license or in process of obtaining license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of VFD (variable frequency drives) and MCC’s (motor control centers)
  • Demonstrated expertise in fabrication; welding, brazing, soldering and most forms of pipefitting.
  • High mechanical aptitude in the repair of pumps, motors, HVAC equipment, and laboratory equipment.
  • Experience with operation and troubleshooting of closed loop water chemistry programs, de-alkalizing, reverse osmosis, and deionizing water filtration systems.
  • Ability to understand, troubleshoot, and repair complex chemical piping / flow systems.
  • Ability to understand, troubleshoot, and repair complex pneumatic control systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, electrical schematics, and building / equipment blueprints.
  • Knowledge of medium voltage 3 phase electrical systems and low voltage control circuits.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in all aspects.
  • Demonstrated High Safety / Environmental Awareness.
  • Safety Training including Lockout-Tagout, Hot Work Permit, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Hazardous Chemical Awareness, Line break, OSHA training.
  • Ability to work effectively with others within an interdisciplinary team and professionally interact with coworkers, corporate leadership, and outside contractors.
  • Excellent math and communications skills.
  • High computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all job duties to the highest quality standards.
  • Able to participate in on-call rotation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Combination of 10+ years technical training and experience in the operation and maintenance of building controls, process controls, building mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of JCI Metasys EMS software and Lab Hood Management system (TSI)
  • MN 1st Class C Boiler License or in the process of obtaining.
  • OSHA Construction Safety and Health Certification.
  • Associate degree in building maintenance type field.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to safely work at elevated heights, including on ladders and roofs.
  • Must be able to lift to 75# equipment.
  • Must be able to operate forklift, electric pallet jack, pallet jack.
  • Must be fully trained for awareness and the use the proper PPE for chemicals used at our facility.
