Senior Civil Estimator

Nashville, TN · Onsite · $120,000 to $135,000 · Direct hire

A leading civil construction company in Nashville is looking for an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to lead its civil preconstruction department. The company works in the complex side of construction, where equipment, technology and ground conditions all shape the job.

You would oversee, approve and present the company's cost estimates, with a focus on paving work. Your numbers decide how many jobs the company wins, and you would help lead and grow the preconstruction team.

What you would do

• Study drawings, specifications and other documents to build detailed cost estimates
• Lead the bid process for public and private projects
• Work out labor, material and time needs from the plans and proposals
• Get and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Put together bid packages and present final estimates to senior management
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when needed
• Suggest ways to save cost (value engineering)
• Keep historical cost data and build estimating templates and tools
• Mentor junior estimators and help improve the process

What you need

• 5+ years as an estimator in the civil industry
• A record of estimating a range of civil projects, such as excavation, paving and grading
• Strong Excel and Bluebeam skills. HeavyBid, Bid2Win or Agtek is a plus, not required
• Strong communication, client and business development, and negotiation skills
• A strong sense of urgency to get complete bids in on time

• $120,000 to $135,000 base pay

This is a field role: the work happens at customer and job sites rather than at a single worksite, and you will be based within driving distance of the job location. Expect day trips to job sites, with most nights at home.
