We are seeking a High-Performance Control Room (HPCR) Engineer to join our team focused on advancing Human-Machine Optimization (HMO) and alarm management systems for Power & Water utilities in North America.

This role is critical in shaping operator effectiveness through intuitive display design, industry-standard graphics and data-driven alarm solutions. These solutions are generally engineered on Emerson’s best-in-class Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS). 

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Take ownership of the engineering design, project management, testing and commissioning of HPCR solutions to deliver comprehensive, high-quality outcomes for our customers. 
  • Lead and support the development of high-performance operator graphics that align with industry standards (EEMUA and ANSI) and enhance operator effectiveness. 
  • Design and deliver sophisticated alarm displays tailored to customer needs, ensuring clarity and usability. 
  • Conduct alarm performance reviews using data interrogation and statistical analysis to identify trends and mitigate recurring issues. 
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, facilitating consultative workshops with operations staff to drive adoption and buy in of HPCR solutions. 
  • Support integration, testing and deployment of HPCR solutions within control system environments. 
  • Balance customer deliverables and internal schedules effectively to ensure project success. 
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to foster long-term collaboration and trust.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, technical field, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in process operations in chemical, life sciences, power plant or other manufacturing or control systems 
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% in North America
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. 

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, as above 
  • Knowledge of plant control and/or alarm systems  
  • Proven experience in control room design, human-machine interface (HMI), or alarm management systems. 
  • Knowledge of industry graphic standards for operator displays, such as ANSI/ISA 18.2, ANSI/ISA 101.01, IEC 63303, a plus 
  • Analytical skills to evaluate alarm system performance and recommend improvements 
  • Prior experience with Emerson Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS)
  • Ability to confidently present to groups varying in size, from small teams to large audiences
