Join Pratt & Whitney as a Senior Engineer - Carbon Seal Design & Analysis, where you'll help advance the design and analysis of critical sealing technologies for commercial propulsion systems. As part of the Components Analytical Group within the Mechanical Systems Externals and Nacelles Module Center, you'll apply your leadership, analytical expertise, and design experience to solve complex engineering challenges and drive innovation.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the design, analysis, validation, and production support of carbon seals and rolling element bearings for commercial and military gas turbine engine programs, ensuring technical excellence throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Drive cross-functional engineering initiatives by collaborating with suppliers, customers, and internal engineering disciplines to develop innovative sealing solutions, resolve technical challenges, and support new product development and legacy engine programs.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues by conducting failure mode and root cause analyses, supporting rig testing and field investigations, and implementing corrective actions that improve product reliability and performance.
  • Advance engineering capability and organizational excellence by developing analytical methods and engineering tools, improving standard work and processes, and mentoring engineers to strengthen technical expertise and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Communicate technical solutions and provide engineering leadership by presenting design recommendations and analytical findings to customers and executive leadership.
  • Travel Requirement: 10% supporting domestic and international travel for supplier, customer, and program activities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes aerospace design, analysis, and/or gas turbine experience, with demonstrated organizational and leadership skills in project-related, task/schedule management, and resource/outsourcing management.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with NX or other CAD software preferred. Additional usage of tools, including MATLAB, Python, or ANSYS.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance or an active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Department/Segment Overview:

Mechanical Systems, Externals, & Nacelles (MSEN): The Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles Engineering organization is responsible for the design, development, and in-service support of power transmission systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis, oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging and architecture, as well as nacelles for commercial and military engine models. Technical disciplines include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, System Modeling, Mechanical Design analysis for bearings, gears, and seals, and fluid-thermal modeling of associated components and systems.

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
