Diodes Incorporated (Diodes) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Engineer to join our Technology Development Group at Diodes, Inc. in South Portland, Maine. In this role, you will use your knowledge in electronic design tools and methodologies to develop and implement software solutions to automate all aspects of semiconductor design, including verification, integration, and testing. These tools will be used to design new and innovative analog products using new developed semiconductor process technologies. This person will work closely with process integration engineers and chip designers to optimize workflows and improve design quality.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define and develop robust EDA tools to support the full product design lifecycle, ensuring seamless integration with existing workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers, to define requirements and specifications for new EDA tools.
- Conduct performance analysis and optimization of existing EDA tools to improve functionality and reduce time-to-market.
- Implement automation scripts and workflows to streamline design processes and increase productivity.
- Writing design verification rulefiles
- Writing PDK techfiles
- Writing skill-based P-Cells
- Editing PDK model files
- Writing scripts to create CAD capabilities
- Reviewing PDK work of other PDK engineers
- Maintaining PDK documentation
- PDK configuration, release and deployment management
- Leading PDK direction across multiple technologies
- Champion and implement best practices and task automation
- Demonstrate capabilities to stakeholders and support for any feedback and modification
- Manage design data and version control.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices in EDA tool usage and development.
- Engage with EDA vendors to define and test new tools, ensure compatibility with existing workflows, and contribute to the development of future tools.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in EDA technologies, contributing to strategic planning and tool selection.
- Performs other work-related tasks and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- BS or MS degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in electronic design automation, with a proven track record of developing and optimizing EDA tools.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, JAVA, SKILL, or others, with experience in scripting for EDA applications.
- Deep understanding of semiconductor design principles and methodologies.
- Expertise in electronic design automation methodology and tools.
- Experience with industry-standard EDA tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, or Mentor Graphics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Strong communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
