ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our client is a privately owned electrical testing and field service company based in Huntsville, Alabama. The company has been in business for more than 60 years, including support work on the Apollo space program, and continues to serve a blue-chip client base across data centers, utilities, industrial plants, and renewables.
The company operates a single-site compound with offices, a fully equipped shop, a dedicated training center stocked with real apparatus, and a warehouse. It is owned and run by two working partners. There is no private equity, no holding company, and no layer of corporate noise between the field and the people making decisions.
Work spans the country: Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, upstate New York, California, and Florida, with a heavy Southeast core and project work in renewables, data centers, and industrial sites.
THE ROLE
This is a senior field service position for a technician who can run jobs, troubleshoot, and contribute on a crew working independently. You will work across commercial, industrial, and utility sites, often in the same week, on a mix of testing, commissioning, and acceptance work.
Senior technicians are needed immediately, with capacity for additional hires through the year. The right person will fit into a culture that prioritizes the quality of the team over the size of the team.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Acceptance and maintenance testing on circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and MV/HV cable
- Protection relay testing and basic commissioning support
- Cable terminations on data center and industrial projects
- Switchgear lineup testing across data center, industrial, and utility environments
- Solar acceptance testing and substation upgrade work in active project regions
- Working with modern test equipment including Doble and Omicron platforms
- Writing clear, accurate test reports tied to NETA ATS and MTS standards
- Mentoring junior technicians and contributing to in-house training programs
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Strong fits include:
- NETA Level II or III technicians
- OEM field service technicians, including breaker mechanics with field exposure
- Ex-Navy nukes including Electrician's Mates, Nuclear ETs, and Prime Power graduates

- Solar and renewables technicians with apparatus testing exposure
Required experience and skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on testing or directly equivalent technical experience
- Working knowledge of circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and MV/HV cable

- Experience with Doble, Omicron, Megger, or similar test sets
- OSHA 10 or 30
- Clean driving record and willingness to travel as the project mix demands
What you do not need:
- A current NETA certification. The company will pay for and support your cert progression and has a track record of moving uncertified hires to Level III in under a year.
- A specific OEM background. Brand familiarity transfers.
