Position Overview:

The new facility will contain a broad range of chemical, mechanical, and thermal processes, and the Senior Electrical Operations Engineer will be expected to oversee the safe and efficient operation of electrical infrastructure in a manufacturing environment, serving as the technical lead for troubleshooting, maintenance, and system upgrades. The Senior Electrical Operations Engineer will lead the efforts to constantly upgrade and improve site safety, operating efficiency, reliability, and redundancy of electrical systems, to outperform as a state-of-the-art facility.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead as a subject matter expert in the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems, driving OPEX and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute electrical projects aimed at reducing operating expenses, optimizing energy usage, and improving system performance.
  • Conduct operational assessments and system reviews to uncover inefficiencies, propose data[1]driven solutions, and implement performance-enhancing upgrades.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and EHS teams to scope, justify, and implement electrical OPEX projects.
  • Champion a safety-first culture by enforcing adherence to electrical safety standards, participating in field reviews, and integrating risk-reduction strategies into project design and execution.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for recurring electrical issues, inefficiencies, or unplanned costs—ensuring corrective actions are implemented and validated.
  • Develop, document, and deploy electrical engineering standards and procedures that support long-term operational excellence and cost-efficiency.
  • Support engineering, construction, and commissioning teams with real-time operational input to ensure new designs align with plant needs and long-term OPEX goals.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of implemented improvements, including KPIs such as energy savings, cost reductions, system uptime, and process optimization.
  • Deliver technical training and documentation to operations staff, ensuring consistent understanding of electrical system enhancements and energy efficiency practices.
  • Ensure all electrical OPEX and improvement projects comply with applicable codes, safety regulations, and internal quality standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong background in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and electrical design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and SKM PowerTools.
  • Hands-on experience in engineering, troubleshooting, and optimizing control voltage, low-voltage (LV), and medium-voltage (MV) electrical systems.
  • Skilled in performing power system studies, including load calculations, short-circuit analysis, arc flash assessments, and protective device coordination.
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles with cross-functional knowledge of mechanical and process systems.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams and technicians, with emphasis on safety, reliability, code compliance, design excellence, and continuous improvement.

Desired Qualities:

  • Professional certifications in Six Sigma, reliability engineering, manufacturing systems, or industrial automation are highly desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulatory codes, including NEC, IEEE, NETA, OSHA, NRTL, and UL.
  • Experience with critical electrical infrastructure such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), diesel/gas generators, switchgear, power distribution units, VFDs, and automatic/static transfer switches.
  • Skilled in setting clear priorities and making sound, timely decisions in fast-paced, high-stakes operational environments.
  • Consistently dependable in meeting deadlines and delivering accurate, detailed technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving strengths, with a continuous improvement mindset and drive for innovation.
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, and project functions.
