We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Laboratory team—an exciting and highly specialized environment where products come to life. In this role, you won’t just design and build components—you will design and build the environments that test them. You’ll build and power the lab infrastructure, control systems, and simulation platforms that replicate real-world operating conditions for some of the most advanced aerospace systems in the world.

From jet engine fuel systems to electronic engine controls and environmental control systems, your work will directly enable innovation, validation, and mission success.

What You Will Do

  • Design and build advanced test environments that simulate real-world operating conditions for aerospace products including aircraft systems, Environmental Control Systems, jet engine fuel pumps, satellite thermal systems, propeller systems, and Electronic Engine Controls.

  • Lead the design, specification, procurement, and fabrication oversight of electrical power and control systems.

  • Develop and implement 3-phase power electronics and distribution systems, motor drives, temperature control, electric heaters (50–1000kW), and facility control systems.

  • Design and program PLC-based safety interlock systems and ladder logic controls.

  • Oversee installation, checkout, troubleshooting, and commissioning of complex test setups.

  • Create product interface wiring harnesses and electrical schematics.

  • Design systems for hazardous environments (ANSI/NFPA Class I, Div. 1).

  • Develop and optimize data acquisition and control systems for lab and flight test applications.

  • Measure and analyze key physical phenomena (temperature, pressure, mass flow, acceleration, speed, electrical properties, etc.) to support cutting-edge engineering product development..

  • Ensure compliance with NEC/NFPA 70 & 70E, including arc-flash considerations.

  • Collaborate with Lab Mechanical and Test Engineers to design, build, and operate state-of-the-art test facilities across various specialized labs (Pneumatic, Fuel, Hydro-Mechanical, Vibration, and Electronic).

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.

  • Experience in industrial, facilities, test/lab, or similar electrical engineering environments.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Working experience with power systems, controls, and instrumentation.

  • Experience with PLC programming and automation systems.

  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or other data acquisition environments.

  • Experience creating mechanical or electrical engineering drawings and schematics, using Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks

  • Knowledge of hazardous location design standards.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
