Summary


The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible to design, specify, install and troubleshoot Electrical Control Systems for process equipment associated with the making of Steel and Aluminum.

What you’ll do

  • Perform electrical engineering calculations for motor size requirements, power requirements, etc. to size electrical equipment as needed
  • Work as a point of contact with the customer in the sales phase of the project to ensure that all technical and commercial aspects are addressed so as to offer a clear scope of supply and solution. 
  • Discuss project scope with the project team including project management, engineering, and procurement to ensure a complete understanding of the scope of work. Also log and track progress on customer requests for quotations. 
  • Develop a project scope of work. 
  • Develop list of electrical devices and functional description of operation of equipment. 
  • Develop a familiarity for Blast Furnace, EAF, LMF, Degassers, Dust Cleaning and Caster equipment in order to be able to respond to customer questions and assure proper fit of the equipment to the project requirements. 
  • Obtain and compile quotations from sub-suppliers. Review quotations with proper approval channel. Prepare cost calculations and transfer this into a final quotation format as presented to the customer. 
  • Provide electrical engineering support for orders under execution. This involves updating and maintaining electrical device lists, selection of electrical devices, updating and maintaining functional descriptions of operations, input to safety review, etc. 
  • Travel is required to customer sites and supplier sites. 

What you’ll need 

  • Strong electrical aptitude and interest in the workings of machines. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a group. 
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering 
  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience within an electrical engineering role in metals or similar industries. 
  • Understanding of MS Office products. 
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software is a plus. 
  • Business travel to customers’ sites and vendor workshops will be required.
