We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who will contribute to the success of the R&D Team, applying their expertise in Electrical Engineering to support the achievement of team and company goals and deliver innovative, reliable solutions. In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate effectively with colleagues and cross-functional teams, demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and maintain a commitment to professional excellence, quality and continuous improvement.
The Role
Particle Measuring Systems is looking to hire a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer with a successful track record of leading the design of complex industrial products from concept to customer and has career ambitions to be a functional engineering manager within a 2-5 year timeframe.
The successful candidate will be an out-of-the-box thinker not constrained by how things have been done before with a passion for coming up with new approaches for improving processes, creating novel new product architectures, solving highly technical problems, and creating innovative solutions to extremely challenging customer requirements.
The position requires the individual to be versatile performing a range of tasks from leading project teams, coaching and mentoring, designing systems and detailed circuits, troubleshooting products, and testing and evaluating new particle and detection technologies. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding and experience developing products, R&D proposals, electronic circuits, best practices, and documentation.
When you join PMS, you will be learning business operations, products, and customer needs by helping to create the next generation of particle counters and overcoming challenges at the physical limit of opto-mechanical and electronic sensing technologies. Your passion to lead and manage will become evident as you take on more responsibilities, proactively identify and resolve both technical and operational issues, and become the go-to expert on one or more product lines.
Job Responsibilities
This is a hands-on position where you will be working with multi-disciplinary project teams including mechanical, firmware, production, and service engineers as well as marketing, supply chain, service technicians and product line managers. You will be responsible for leading cross functional teams ensuring successful product launches.
Designing system architectures and detailed circuits for next generation particle counters.
Leading technical teams to ensure best practices are followed and highest quality products are developed. Driving with a sense of urgency to ensure on time and schedule delivery.
Ensuring designs meet DFQ, DFT, DFM, performance, reliability, and cost requirements.
Developing means to evaluate circuit, system, and product performance and capabilities.
Investigating and evaluating new components and technologies targeted at advancing product performance and capabilities.
Learning user needs, use cases, and intended uses. Identify unmet needs and opportunities.
Creating product design and production documentation, theory of operations, test reports, and other technical documents when appropriate.
Technical and operational training, coaching, and mentoring of staff.
Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety

Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering – advanced technical degree is highly desired.
10+ years experience.
Proficiency with PCBA design and simulation tools.
Experience with meeting regulatory requirements (EMC, CE, RoHS, REACH, ATEX, EUCRA, Safety)
Experience designing experiments and root cause analysis.
Experience with product and PCBA design and documentation best practices.
Experience with new product introduction thru production release and sustaining process.
Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Siemens EDM and Xpedition.
Product development lifecycle from concept to customer.
System design, FMEAs, requirement capturing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
DFx (Test, Manufacturing, Reliability, Quality, Service, Production, Cost, Safety, Sustainability).
Part evaluation and qualifications.
Ultra-low noise analog circuit and detector interface designs.
Passion for researching and learning about new technologies, competition, and the physics and science of particle detection.
Effective negotiating, coaching, mentoring, and team building skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role primarily operates in an office/lab/manufacturing environment. Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods of time

Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary range $120000 - $145000 depending upon experience
Our compensation philosophy: we offer competitive pay based on market data, including local, national, and industry benchmarks. For new hires, offers are generally within the established min- to mid-point of the range for the role, with flexibility to recognize experience, skills, and education.
