Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer for a 3 year contract to hire with experience in natural gas processing or gas plant operations to support the design, analysis, and reliability of electrical systems within our facilities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on operational knowledge of gas plant environments, experience conducting power system studies, and familiarity with applicable NERC standards and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design, analysis, operation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in gas processing plants and related facilities.

• Apply operational knowledge of gas plant processes to ensure safe and reliable electrical system performance.

• Perform and review power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, motor starting, and coordination studies.

• Support electrical system reliability and asset integrity through system evaluations, upgrades, and preventative maintenance strategies.

• Ensure electrical systems and operational practices align with applicable NERC standards and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve electrical issues impacting plant reliability and safety.

• Provide technical support for plant modifications, expansions, and capital projects.

• Participate in electrical system commissioning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of equipment failures.

• Maintain and update electrical drawings, protection settings, and system documentation.

• Support incident investigations and recommend corrective actions related to electrical systems.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

• 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering within gas processing plants, natural gas facilities, or similar industrial environments.

• Demonstrated operational experience working in or supporting gas plant operations.

• Experience performing power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protective relay coordination.

• Familiarity with NERC reliability standards and compliance practices.

• Strong understanding of medium- and high-voltage power distribution systems.

• Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar).

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.

• Experience with electrical protection systems and relay settings.

• Experience supporting electrical infrastructure in regulated energy environments.

• Knowledge of industrial control systems and integration with plant electrical systems.
