The Role

At QuidelOrtho, we’re advancing the power of diagnostics for a healthier future for all. Join our mission as our next Senior Director, Infrastructure & Operations leader to support our enterprise-wide infrastructure and operations strategy. This leader will have direct impact on companywide business outcomes over a multiyear horizon (2-4 years) for QuidelOrtho including business continuity, operational resilience, cybersecurity execution, and end-user experience. This role is responsible for modernizing and operating core technology services across cloud platforms, networks, compute, storage, collaboration, service management, endpoint technologies, and site infrastructure that support global business operations.
This leader will partner closely with executive stakeholders and functional leaders to define the long-term infrastructure vision, operating model, service portfolio, and investment roadmap aligned with enterprise priorities. The role requires a balance of strategic leadership and operational execution, with accountability for reliability, service quality, cost discipline, and risk management across a highly complex global environment.

The role is remote eligible with the ability to come onsite in San Diego, CA as needed.

The Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the enterprise infrastructure and operations strategy with accountability for long term functional impact and alignment to business priorities, resiliency objectives, security requirements, and the technology roadmap.
  • Own the architecture, delivery, and ongoing operations of core infrastructure services including cloud platforms, networks, compute, storage, identity, collaboration, endpoint management, and site technology.
  • Establish and mature an operating model for infrastructure and end-user services that improves reliability, service quality, scalability, and cost effectiveness across global locations.
  • Lead cloud and hybrid infrastructure strategy, including platform operations, capacity planning, performance optimization, environment standardization, and operational automation.
  • Partner closely with cybersecurity, enterprise applications, data and AI, and business teams to ensure infrastructure services meet security, integration, performance, and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee IT service management disciplines including incident, problem, change, release, asset, configuration, and request management, with clear service ownership and accountability.
  • Define and manage service level objectives, operational KPIs, and executive reporting for uptime, response times, issue resolution, customer satisfaction, and cost performance.
  • Lead disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and operational resilience planning to reduce risk and improve recovery readiness across critical systems and sites.
  • Drive infrastructure modernization initiatives include automation, observability, standardization, technical debt reduction, and lifecycle management for platforms and hardware.
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships, outsourced services, and infrastructure partners, including commercial negotiations, performance management, and make-versus-buy decisions.
  • Lead global teams across infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, end-user computing, service desk, and field support, managing multiple teams through senior leaders and ensuring alignment to departmental objectives.
  • Shape the talent strategy and organizational design for infrastructure and operations teams, including workforce planning, capability development, and succession planning. Accountable for budget planning, and oversight, including prioritization of investments and resource allocation across infrastructure and operations.
  • Influence enterprise level decision making and communicate with executive leadership on infrastructure strategy, risks, performance and investment priorities.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required in related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Typically requires 15+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years with a combination of progressive leadership experience, scope, and demonstrated impact at scale within a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure, operations, cloud platform, or enterprise technology roles within complex global enterprise environments, with responsibility for multiple teams
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise infrastructure and operations teams with accountability for reliability, service delivery, modernization, and business continuity outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of cloud and hybrid infrastructure architecture, network and platform operations, end-user computing, service management, and operational governance.
  • Experience establishing scalable operational processes, service metrics, and performance management disciplines across distributed teams and global environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to communicate with and influence executive leadership on matters of strategic importance and negotiate priorities across functions.
  • Strong knowledge of operational risk management, disaster recovery, change control, and compliance requirements relevant to enterprise technology environments.
  • Strong organizational change leadership and communication skills, including leading large-scale transformation initiatives and driving adoption of new standards and ways of working.
  • Travel 10-15% onsite as needed or to other QuidelOrtho locations.
  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Experience in regulated industries such as diagnostics, healthcare, medical device, or manufacturing is preferred.

The Work Environment

No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Minimal travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $250,000 and is bonus equity / long-term incentive

eligible.
