Your primary responsibility as a Senior Controls Engineer is to provide customer support and engineering through the performance of small projects, on-site installation, as well as troubleshooting, service, and repair of equipment. You'll work with our customers in order to improve and maintain an efficient and productive manufacturing system. You will report to the Territory Services Manager, and will work out of your home office 50% of the time and the other 50% will be supporting the region with a focus on drives and motion.
Your Responsibilities:
- Responsible for effectively providing field services to support the installation, start-up, maintenance and operation of automation control systems & advanced manufacturing software applications, drive systems, manufacturing systems, industrial networks and the individual products which comprise these systems.
- Possesses specialized expertise in applying automation technology to specific industries such as Food & Beverage, Life Sciences, etc. and applications such as conveyors, packaging equipment, winders, paper machines, burner management, press control, etc.
- Ability to effectively drive commercial customer interface, project planning, project and/or site management.
- Ability to develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs and provide expert level service to solve advanced problems relating to products, technologies and industry processes.
- Identifies opportunities for and leads efforts to re-use engineering pertaining to application solutions or technologies across multiple projects.
- Aspires to be a domain expert where internal and external stakeholders go to for help in solving customer challenges.
- Follows all company safety procedures and guidelines to protect themselves and others.

- Program PLCs and HMIs systems for new or modified equipment using RSLogix 5000, 500, 5, FactoryTalk Studio software, Studio5000, ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
- Maintain automation and equipment including working with low to medium voltage.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Rockwell Automation will not offer sponsorship for this position.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Experienced in PLC and HMI programming using RSLogix 5, 500, 5000, RSView32 and/or FTView ME/SE, Networking: RIO, DH+, D-Net, and Ethernet Communication
- 5+ years of directly related experience
- Ability to travel throughout the region/assigned territory, with flexibility to work overtime, on-call and weekends, as required
- PLC programming utilizing RSLogix 5, 500, 5000, FactoryTalk Studio software
- Studio5000, ControlLogix, CompactLogix
- PowerFlex products and applications
- Ethernet/IP, Stratix Switches
- Servo/Motion control
- Low Voltage PowerFlex Drives knowledge
- Medium Voltage Drives knowledge
- Experience with networks including EtherNet, ControlNet, and DeviceNet
- Application/Project experience utilizing Rockwell's Advanced Software Packages such as Historian, AssetCentre, VantagePoint, and Plant/Energy Matrix
- Experience in Virtual Machine computing and Thin Client technology
