The purpose of a Conduit Assembler is to install electrical systems in the Power Control Room (PCR) and to ensure the PCR is shipped and delivered on time.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Learn and adhere to all safety policies and practices to avoid safety incidents
- Learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure consistent production
- Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality
- Install wiring by following standard work/process instructions
- Knowledge of electrical code requirements and wiring practices
- Accurately reads schematics
- Installs arc flash fiber optics
- Installs communication cables
- Installs transformer cables
- Demonstrates proficiency with all wiring tools
- Installs switch trailer and capacitor bank cabling
- Communicates effectively within department (leads/supervisors): part shortages, engineering issues, personnel issues
- Demonstrates ability and willingness to train others
- Provides performance feedback to supervisor regarding employees
- Reviews engineering prints prior to project release
- Provides wire estimates for projects
- Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Constantly standing
- Frequently working from a ladder, and climbing up and down ladders.
- Constantly working overhead
- Constantly working in cramped quarters
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
- Demonstrates mastery of skills list for conduit assembler position
- Demonstrates ability & willingness to train employees regarding proper use & maintenance of tools, performing work per Powell standards, & carrying out conduit schedule
- Reviews drawings & orders necessary conduit & fittings for each project; monitors inventory
- Successfully leads team to project completion; appropriately delegates tasks
- Performs in-process inspections to ensure project quality & integrity
- Properly completes & tracks HFDs
- Effectively communicates with assembly & wiring departments to ensure efficient project completion
- Solves minor project issues; work with engineering staff regarding drawing discrepancies
- Performs standard conduit bends and offsets
- Properly installs conduit & devices (interior & exterior)
- Accurately lays out, modifies, & installs wireway/cable tray per design
- Properly installs lighting, pipe lighting, & fixtures (interior & exterior)
- Demonstrates knowledge of conduit types, sizes, & fittings
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED and 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience
- Must have previous conduit experience with both thick and thin wall conduit
- Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Must have basic mathematical skills (i.e. fractions, conversions)
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Must be familiar with common and job specific tools
- Must be able to read a tape measure
- Must be able to read and interpret prints (e.g. specification sheets, wiring diagrams, schematics, three-line and part drawings)
- Must be able to perform basic point-to-point wiring
