Senior Buyer (Manufacturing experience is essential)

• Location – Waukegan, IL
• Monday – Friday, Day Shift onsite
• $70,000 – $100,000 + benefits
• Direct hire, full time permanent position

You will be working for a well-established manufacturing and supply chain business supporting high-volume production operations across North America. Our client is recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join their procurement team in return for a salary in the region of $70,000 – $100,000.

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for planning and purchasing raw materials to support production schedules, new product introductions, and ongoing manufacturing operations while maintaining supplier relationships and inventory performance.

Duties and responsibilities of a Senior Buyer:

• Implement procurement strategies to support production schedules and inventory requirements.
• Execute purchase orders and track supplier deliveries to ensure on-time material availability.
• Collaborate with Operations, Planning, and Production teams to support New Product Introductions (NPI).
• Manage supplier relationships and maintain strong communication regarding forecasts, lead times, and supply risks.
• Monitor inventory levels, shortages, and material flow to minimize operational disruption.
• Support demand planning and supply chain continuity through proactive risk mitigation.
• Track supplier performance metrics and escalate supply chain issues where required.
• Analyze procurement and inventory data to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and supply chain operations.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to procurement best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience within procurement, purchasing, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience purchasing raw manufacturing materials in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing high dollar amount spend and supplier negotiations.
• Strong ERP system experience is required.
• Experience with New Product Introductions (NPI) and production launch support.
• Knowledge of inventory management, demand forecasting, and supplier performance metrics.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and supplier relationship management abilities.
• APICS, CSCP, CPSM, or related supply chain certifications are highly desirable.
