SUMMARY:

As a Senior Business Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving business process excellence for Hormel.  You will have an opportunity to deliver process and quality improvements that add value for our customers.  You will add great value to the company by executing process and quality improvements that streamline processes and reduce waste.  This role provides an opportunity to demonstrate leadership within a collaborative team with high visibility and impact.  As a member of the business process team, you will be provided learning opportunities and career development coaching.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Partner for the Business
    • Establish trust and respect with leaders of the business and become a trusted advisor whose input and guidance are sought after by leaders when they face challenges.
    • Act as strategic partner for leaders of the business to define their strategy, develop a plan, and execute that plan to deliver their strategy.
    • Possess the ability to think, plan, and execute for the long term.
    • Work with leaders to turn a problem statement into an actionable project with a high probability of a successful outcome.
    • Define specific objectives with clear measures of success.
    • Bring to bear multiple different tools, methodologies, and approaches based on a blend of experience and expertise to make projects successful.
  • Execute large scale improvements and strategic initiatives that deliver big wins
    • Able to work with sponsors/champions to design and draft large-scale project plans some that may span many months with multiple phases and dozens of key stakeholders.
    • Ensure incremental value delivery with measurable results.
    • Able to move projects at a fast pace – focus on achievement vs. activity.
    • Possess a bias toward action and avoid “analysis paralysis”.
    • Able to rapidly adjust project plans based on result from early phases.
    • Bring to bear various resources beyond process engineering to achieve objectives of large-scale projects.
    • Can effectively manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Leader in business process excellence for the enterprise
    • Provide subject matter expertise for business process excellence to include, process modeling, operational discipline, business intelligence (metrics, dashboarding, etc.), business process optimization, and process automation.
    • Improve business process maturity by implementing best practices in process design, operational discipline, enterprise quality, and business intelligence.
    • Mentor and coach junior process engineers to develop their skills in process and quality improvement.
  • Enterprise champion for change
    • Make a convincing case for change at all levels of the organization in various formats tailored to the audience.
    • Drive change from the highest levels of the organization to the front-lines.
    • Play a pivotal role in evolving corporate culture to embrace change and continuous improvement. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required

  • A master’s degree in business administration, Industrial Engineering, or Technology.
  • Minimum 7 years of recent experience in business process improvement, strategic initiatives, organizational quality, program/project management.
  • Ability to travel 10-15%.
  • At least 7 years’ experience successfully applying lean and six sigma tools to deliver large-scale improvement initiatives and strategic objectives – especially in finance and accounting organizations.
    • Expertise in key methodologies for continuous improvement and quality improvement. (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma)
    • Not only able to operate with ambiguity but can rapidly make order from chaos.
    • Able to work with sponsors/champions to design and draft large-scale project plans some that may span many months with multiple phases and dozens of key stakeholders.
    • Able to rapidly adjust project plans based on result from early phases.
    • Able to lead diverse teams to a solution that achieves defined objectives.
    • Able to work with sponsors/champions to drive action items to completion.
  • Captivating change leader with demonstrated experience maturing business process and implementing a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Mastery of process and quality improvement methodologies and tools.
    • Mastery of Lean and Six Sigma Methodologies and Tools. (Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Flow, Poka Yoke, DMAIC, SIPOC, RCA, FMEA, etc.)
    • Significant expertise in process mapping and process modeling tools such as ARIS, MS Visio, Miro, etc. including tool administration.
    • At least 7 years’ experience developing process, establishing operational discipline, and measuring success.
    • At least 7 years’ experience improving organizational quality with measurable outcomes.
    • Experience training and developing team members in process and quality improvement methods and tools – is a force multiplier.
    • Track-record of mentoring junior-level process engineering team members.
  • Successful in developing and implementing data, metrics, and dashboards to drive enterprise outcomes.
    • Experience with data analysis, modeling, and measurement.
    • Expertise in data visualization best practices.
    • Experience with data analysis and dashboard tools. (PowerBI, Tableau, Advanced MS Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with process automation tools. (UIPath, MS PowerAutomate, etc.)
  • Expertise with MS Office, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook. 
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States
  • Applicants must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa

Preferred

  • Lean, Six Sigma, BPMN certifications. 
  • Program/Project/Portfolio management qualifications.
