POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Guard/ Forklift Operator reports to the Warehouse Manager and is based out of our Sparta, Michigan location. This individual will be responsible for the security and order of the plant, grounds, and work site. loading and unloading finished goods, raw materials, and ingredients from trailers with the use of a forklift, utilizing our inventory control system (QAD) to capture all movement.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Security

Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, contractors, visitors, and other persons to maintain the security of the premises.
Sign in vendors and contractors, and issue appropriate badges
Report bulk tanker deliveries to blend room personnel and track tankers on the weekly delivery schedule
For incoming trucks, verify seal number and integrity, record trucks in the logbook, and direct them to the appropriate dock or shipping and receiving (S&R) office
Verify that the trailer seal number matches the seal recorded on the bill of lading for outgoing trucks and inspect the integrity of trailer door and door seals per SQF shipping procedures
Monitor security camera footage
Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, gates, chemical cages, etc.
Monitor refrigeration and freezer temperatures, including blend room tanks, specifically when production, blending, and maintenance personnel are unavailable, such as on weekends and holidays; report deviations to the designated employees
Follow/complete weekend rounds checklist and keep records on file.
During after-hours rounds, monitor for trash, pest control, and other types of facility emergencies (e.g., leaks, etc.)
Write and submit to the Director of Transportation reports of daily activities and irregularities.
Monitor weather during severe weather conditions and report to the crisis management team as needed
Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency

Forklift Operator

Load and unload finished goods
Key duties include checking in the driver, loading the truck with the use of BOL and using the FIFO method, completing the load, printing the BOL, and signing out the driver.
Tag and properly store finished products from production lines in a safe, efficient, and orderly fashion.
Communicate all shortages to the Warehouse Supervisor.
Ensure product rotation is occurring, shipping out the oldest product first. Use pick sheets to assist in rotation and report any discrepancies.
Maintain good quality of the product, including rotation of the product, correct tagging of the product, and ensuring the product is not damaged in the warehouse. Damaged products should be handled under the clean-as-you-go program.
Have an awareness of, and adherence to, all safety requirements
Accountable for food safety, food quality, and regulatory requirements for their position
Encouraged to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues
Adopt and maintain all SQF requirements for their position
Empowerment to work with supervision to resolve food safety and food quality issues within their scope of work
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Qualifications

Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent
0-1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

FREQUENT: Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in the area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature.

OCCASIONAL: Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height.

VISION: Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high-speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines, and exhaust fans.
