DoD Clearance: SecretThe Undersea Sensors & Structures (USS) Department leads the mechanical design, development, and integration of a set of products within the Mechanical Engineering discipline (ME). This includes undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.
The Advanced Acoustic and Dynamic Systems Section Leader will report to the USS Department Leader and is responsible for the success of the Section’s people and performance in alignment with RTX’s Leadership Behaviors Model. The priority of the Section Leader is to ensure that the Section delivers results by providing appropriate resources and support for all programs and initiatives led and/or supported by the Section. The Section Leader is responsible for the on-time and accurate delivery of the work products prepared by all section personnel. The Section Leader is also responsible for execution of Performance Impact throughout the year, implementing a career development program for the section members, salary planning, and for continuing leadership of and/or support to Mechanical Engineering initiatives.
This position is on-site in Mystic, Connecticut.
The Advanced Acoustic and Dynamic Systems section’s charter includes a focus on, but is not limited to, specialized skills in acoustics and undersea sensor design, analysis and test. The Section Leader will support the section members in:
Pursuing and capturing new business
Providing program technical guidance and leadership
Support to management of CRAD program execution
Understand and comply with business pursuit gating process
Provide AOP inputs
Support proposals as they arise
Identify and propose capital and engineering software purchases
The Section Leader, in addition to their section leadership responsibilities, will also be assigned program tasking in their area of expertise as it relates to business and Department needs. The Section Leader is also responsible for contributing to the performance of mechanical engineering through regular program contribution, internal and external customer relationships, and product solutions. Demonstrated experience as a team lead is highly desired.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience.
Fifteen years or more experience in Acoustics Engineering.
Excellent communication, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills; Proven ability to interface with program and technical leadership.
Demonstrated ability to strategize and make technical decisions on complex technical requirements
Demonstrated project/task leadership roles
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance U.S. Citizenship is required, Active Secret Clearance (Department of Defense).
Qualifications We Value:
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, focus in Acoustics/Vibrations
Experience with technical and cost proposal development as Proposal Lead
Experience executing smaller CRAD projects and larger Department of Defense programs
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Project)
Existing Top Secret Clearance, or ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance
